I finally heard back – after five unanswered phone calls – from the marketing fella at The Treasury. Yes, it will have its grand opening in mid-August, and is supposed to be a truly classy high-end restaurant/lounge/nightclub.
Tip to anybody in the retail/hospitality business – when somebody from the media comes a calling, it’s really a good idea to get back to them as soon as possible.

ORIGINAL POSTING FROM LATE JULY
They were sure talking a good line back in the spring, the promoters behind the still-unopened Treasury restaurant lounge and dinner/night club kitty corner from the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in the heart of Edmonton’s downtown.
It was going to be chic, elegant, Monte Carlo, Vegas, oyster bars, different themed rooms … jeans need not apply with a clothing store downstairs to purchase appropriate gear if need be.
Here we are, almost August. No signs of activity. The “Treasury” window covers are getting dirty and tattered.
And calls to the lead partner go unaswered.
I walked home from work last week I poked my head in and spoke to some of the workers. They gave me a quick tour and explained the place to me, I was very impressed. This place is amazing! no question it is the nicest establishment I’ve seen in a long time. I suggest anyone who is passing by, media or otherwise to poke your head in and see for yourself.
There is supposed to be another new restaurant / night club opening in the old Mirabelle location on 109 street south of Japser.
It is supposed to be a latin themed club from Calgary.
Anyone know about it?
