Golf may be a mental game. But physical fitness is critical to staying injury-free and improving your swing.
With that in mind, give your game a tune-up with these fitness tips from the Ontario Kinesiology Association (OKA) and OKA board member Fabian Rayne:
Stretching/Flexibility
• Your body should be stretched and relaxed to achieve maximum power for your swing. Stretching increases your body’s potential for free active movements, helping you achieve a full and easy follow-through.
Strength Training
• A high-powered golf swing can also be derived through effective strength training. Power is gained through built muscle, which helps to increase your club speed.
Cardiovascular
• Cardio exercises provide golfers with higher levels of energy and endurance. It also helps increase stamina and swing consistency.
