It turns out that my toddler daughter likes yoga. Loves it, even.
And with her innate flexibility, she’s much better at it than her dear ol’ Daddy – who has discovered his range of motion is severely lacking. Sigh.
Today we tried “Learn With Yoga ABC Yoga Cards for Kids” (for ages two and up) and absolutely had a blast.
The deck of 52 colourfully illustrated index cards – we actually only got to “N” (neck stretches) before her toddler attention span lost interest – provided some serious father-daughter bonding.
I’m sure we’ll continue at “O” (ocean breath) later. I need to mentally prepare myself for “W” (windshield wiper legs) and “Z” (zig zag). And I may have to double up on “Y” (yogic sleep) when we’re finished the deck.
But seriously, all 26 yoga poses in this deck are pretty basic. It’s simply a cool activity to do with your children, especially when frigid temperatures force you indoors.
And methinks it makes me a cool Dad in my daughter’s eyes.
Even if my downward dog pose pales in comparison to hers.
