Celebrate the GO Centre’s grand opening on Sept. 17
Edmontonians are invited to experience our city’s newest and largest home for basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and active-living programs at the Go Centre’s grand opening on Sept. 17.
See the Go Centre in action with the University of Alberta (U of A) Senior High Volleyball Tournament, Edmonton Youth Basketball Tournament, the U of A Pandas Alumni basketball game, Canadian National Sitting Volleyball Team practices (men and women) and the Ortona Gymnastics Fabulous Flippin’ Challenge. The kids will enjoy face painting, treats and more.
Remember to bring a clean pair of indoor running shoes to shoot some hoops or participate in a lesson in the dance studio.
When: Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011 from noon to 4:30 p.m.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Guest Speakers include the Honourable Dave Hancock, Minister of Education and Government House Leader; Councillor Bryan Anderson, Debra Pozega Osburn, U of A Vice-President External Relations; and Ken Flesher, President, Go Centre.
Parking is limited. The City of Edmonton is providing free LRT transportation to and from GO Centre on September 17 for anyone that presents an invitation from the Go Centre website.
The GO Centre was built by a community partnership: Edmonton Grads Basketball, Edmonton Volleyball Centre Society, Ortona Gymnastics and the University of Alberta. Together they raised $38 million to build Edmonton’s landmark destination for physical activity and sport for the enjoyment of individuals, families and league teams.
