Truckload of clothes spun for working poor, homeless

Rumpelstiltskin would be proud.

Much like the dwarfish fairy tale creature who spun gold out of straw, a group of socially conscious fitness enthusiasts spun off a truckload of clothes earlier this month for an Edmonton charity.0064

It was all part of the Spin Off Your Clothes fundraiser hosted by Infinite Fitness in the Riverbend Square parking lot (Terwillegar Drive and Rabbit Hill Road).

As 10 teams of stationary cyclists proved their mettle on the pedals for 12 hours, the fitness centre accepted donations of cash, gently used clothes and household items for the Bissell Centre.

No word on the cash donations, but Infinite Fitness co-owner Jessica Zapata says the inaugural spin-a-thon “went AMAZING!! We filled the entire truck from top to bottom!!”

Good job!

She’s at it again.

Jessica Zapata, the uber-fit co-owner of Infinite Fitness and Infinite Fusion in Edmonton, has conjured up another clever fitness fundraiser.

Here are all the details straight from Zapata herself …

It’s time to Spin Off Your Clothes!

No, we are not talking about a new way of doing laundry or naked cycling – the Infinite Fitness team is proud to host our inaugural Spin-A-Thon in honour of the Edmonton Bissell Centre. The Bissell Centre’s vision of neighbour helping neighbour aligns with Infinite Fitness’ values and beliefs in giving back to our community.

We have an exciting day planned to raise as much money and donations as possible for this charity:

Time: 10 am – 10 pm

What: Nine teams cycling for 12 hours (plus one instructor team). Cash donations, gently used clothes, and household items will be collected.

Where: Riverbend Square Parking Lot (Terwillegar Drive & Rabbit Hill Road)

We welcome everyone to stop by to cheer on participants, buy a hot dog or hamburger but most importantly bring their gently used items and donation to support the Bissell Centre!
