Grabovski glad for his time in the KHL

- January 13th, 2013

Unlike his Maple Leafs teammate Joffrey Lupul, who lasted just nine games in the KHL and wasn’t exactly singing the praises of life in Russia when he returned, Mikhail Grabovski was just fine, thanks.
“I had a good experience in Russia,” Grabovski said. “I played with great players (Pavel Datsyuk and Alexander Radulov on CSKA Moscow).
“But now I am ready to play here. I missed my team. I’m in great shape.”
Grabovski had 12 goals and 12 assists in 29 games for CSKA.
He was told that Lupul didn’t like the food in Russia.
“I’m going to punch him in the face if he says something like that to me,” Grabovski said, eliciting laughter. “Food stinks everywhere. It depends on who cooks his food. In my hometown, where I played, the food was awesome.”
Lupul had one goal and three assists for Yekaterinburg.
“It was an experience and I haven’t figured out if it was good or bad,” Lupul said. “One of those things where I will probably end my career and think back and remember the time I took off for five weeks and played hockey and was completely lost. Tougher than I thought, but at the end of it, I am glad I went.”
