If Brown’s off the market, who now?

- February 24th, 2012

That didn’t take long.

With the frenzy going on concerning the possibility of Dustin Brown being on the market, Los Angeles Kings general manager Dean Lombardi apparently has changed his mind and taken the team’s veteran captain off it.

As a result, the Leafs will be forced to look elsewhere, just as they were when the Kings acquired Jeff Carter on Thursday night.

Rick Nash? James Van Riemsdyk? Evgeni Nabokov? Jonathan Bernier? Steve Ott? Ryan Malone?

Those are all names that have been linked to the Leafs.

With Jay Rosehill and Darryl Boyce being placed on waivers Friday morning, speculation ballooned throughout Toronto that the team was clearing roster space for the prospect of welcoming incoming players involved in a potential deal.

How that plays out remains to be seen.

According to various reports, the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers are among the other teams said to be interested in Brown.
