Writing on the wall?

The Nazem Kadri saga took another twist this morning when Leafs coach Ron Wilson unveiled his lineup for tonight’s pre-season game against the Buffalo Sabres.

That the over-hyped rookie was not on the list isn’t big news – you can’t play all nine exhibitions, after all. What stuck out, however, was Wilson’s comment  that minus Freddie Sjostrom (who will make his pre-season debut on Wednesday) it was, in the coach’s words “Pretty much our (season starting) lineup as I see it is going tonight.”

Notable in that mix is centre Tim Brent, who has apparently moved in front of both Kadri and John Mitchell in the battle for third-line centre.

Jonas Gustavsson is expected to get his first complete game in net while the Leafs will have what looks like their starting three defence pairings: Francois Beauchemin-Dion Phaneuf, Tomas Kaberle-Mike Komisarek and Carl Gunnarsson-Luke Schenn.
