Death and dishonour: Shafia murders the latest sad chapter in war on Muslim women
by Ezra Levant
The jury in Kingston got it right: The evil Shafia family has been sentenced to life in prison, with no chance of parole for 25 years, for killing the girls in their family.
Mohammad Shafia, his polygamous wife Tooba Mohammad Yahya, and their demon son Hamed Mohammad Shafia, were motivated by a medieval belief that women are the personal property of men, to be owned by men, and disposed of by men.
Mohammad and his son Hamed decided the three beautiful girls in the family needed to be killed, needed to be drowned like kittens in a barrel. Because they didn’t want to live in a cage, which is the norm for women in Islamic fascist states like Saudi Arabia, or the Afghan culture from which the Shafias hail.
Zainab, Sahar and Geeti, just 19, 17 and 13 years old, respectively, were murdered. Rona, one of Mohammad’s polygamous wives, was murdered, too.
A quadruple homicide.
Paul Bernardo, Canada’s most notorious serial killer, was convicted of three murders.
The Shafias killed four. Of their own family.
Judge Robert Maranger said: “It is difficult to conceive of a more heinous, more despicable, more honourless crime.”
Difficult, but not impossible to conceive of it. Because there have been more than a dozen honour killings in Canada in recent years. Read more…
VIDEO: Media needs to stop scaring seniors and tell the truth on pension reform
VIDEO: John Kerry paid a lower tax rate than Romney but the liberal media didn’t care
VIDEO: No one waves a finger at a president, except Brian Williams
The American media has been in a tizzy since Arizona Governor Jan Brewer was photographed pointing her finger at President Obama in a tense tarmac moment. Racism has been claimed of course and Jesse Jackson has denounced Governor Brewer. Meanwhile Brewer herself, in a radio interview, said she doesn’t know exactly what she was saying when her finger went up.
So is it always bad form to point a finger at a president? NBC anchor Brian Williams seems to say yes, unless of course, he is the one doing it.
VIDEO: Bob Rae on reforming MPs pensions
There is a great deal of support for reforming the gold-plated pensions of MPs. As the old saying goes though, you better watch what you wish for. When Ontario changed it’s plan in the 90s and replaced a pension with an RRSP type plan, those already vested in the MPP pension received significant payouts, including about $1 million for now Liberal Leader in Ottawa Bob Rae. Rae was asked about that in Quebec City last week.
COLUMN: Robinson – Bike sharing idea makes him think someone has been drinking
Robinson: Leave my body alone
by Ian Robinson
Last week, some folks dedicated to saving the world through spending your money on silly stuff wanted the City of Calgary to cough up $2.5 million to set up a bike-share program downtown.
You know, you plug your credit card into a rack, you get a bike of some sort to ride around on.
This is a fabulous idea.
Frantic for a bike
Personally, I can’t count the number of times I’ve been downtown and frantically began patting all my pockets in a fruitless search before realizing: “Holy crap! I’ve forgotten my bicycle at home!
If only there was some way I could rent one from the City of Calgary!” Or.
Not.
Okay. Maybe if I was drunk or something, but then again, I’ve done stuff while drunk that makes some of the antics in The Hangover look like a Baptist picnic. Read more…
