COLUMN: Solberg – Quebec students riot, I hardly noticed
Have you noticed? There’s a protest

Admittedly, until now I haven’t paid much attention to the Quebec student riots and won’t unless a hockey game breaks out.
The issue is a planned tuition hike at Quebec universities and colleges.
On the face of it, a tuition hike seems reasonable given that Quebec is broke and the province has the lowest tuitions on the continent.
But this logic escapes the protesters. They are offended, a tad hurt and almost certainly humiliated that something as sacred as education could be reduced to a tawdry discussion about money. Read more…

Provinces take back door

Canadian gun owners did not fight 17 years to free themselves from Ottawa’s monstrous gun registry only have provincial chief firearms officers (CFOs) create a new gun registry via the backdoor.
Yet, that appears to be what is happening.
Since the registry was dismantled by an act of Parliament last month, CFOs in at least five provinces have taken it upon themselves to demand that gun shop owners create an unofficial registry. Read more…
