Nothing to see here, just some arms smuggling to Hezbollah

- July 13th, 2012

mouna diabMouna Diab used to speak out about the need to stop giving into stereotypes about Islam. She went to Herouxville in Quebec to denounce the town for saying things like men and women are equal and boys and girls can swim in the same pool. They also didn’t like people covering their faces other than at Halloween.

Now Ms. Diab has been arrested and charge with trying to smuggle arms to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Her arrest isn’t new and in fact Eric Duhaime wrote about it last October.  What is new is the connection to supplying arms to Hezbollah, previously the destination of the arms shipments Ms. Diab is connected to were not known.

Now Vic Toews made a statement about the importance of these new terror charges, in the spirit of my Friday newspaper column I wonder if you can see what is missing?

“The threat of terrorism around the world and here in Canada remains real and multifaceted.  I would like to recognize the Montreal Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET), which includes members of the RCMP, Sûreté du Québec and the Montreal Police Service, for their vigilance and determination.  With strong cooperation between Canada’s law enforcement agencies and international partners, we are taking concrete steps to ensure that Canada will not be a source of weapons or other resources for groups or individuals associated with terrorism.

That’s it Vic, don’t say the I word or the M word. Wouldn’t want to upset Hezbollah, they probably are upset enough that their latest shipment of guns isn’t coming.

Communist regimes were perhaps the single most evil and destructive force of the 20th century.

This brutish and inhumane form of government stripped away individualism and freedom. It subjected all people to a harsh and all-powerful totalitarian state.

There was no room for dissent or disagreement. If someone opposed or even questioned the state, they were exiled, arrested or, far too often, murdered without trial. Read more…

Why not confront Muslim extremism?

by Brian Lilley

I know this has happened to you. You’ve been watching a newscast and there is a story about a terrorist plot being busted. You hear all about the plot, you know how many people were arrested, what they were generally attempting to do, but there is something the police seem to be avoiding.

The M word or the I word.

You know what I mean. Read more…
