Well someone has to try and spin this one. Not one but two Ontario Liberal candidates have said that a re-elected McGuinty government will consider a carbon tax. Of course Dave Levac has now said he misspoke, code for Warren Kinsella’s folks called from the war room and yelled at me. So did Warren call? Watch the video.
Now just to help Warren out, I went to the website of the Live Chat and copied the transcript on the carbon tax portion here.

Comment From Jim W
Glen Murray, Eric Davis and several other Liberal candidates have advocated for a carbon tax – given the success of the carbon tax in BC, is this something you will also advocate for if re-elected?
4:03Dave Levac: It’s being reviewed and some of my colleagues are more enthusiastic for it than others
Our present policies are leading us to a carbon-footprint reduction already.
At this time it’s not part of the platform.4:08

Just to clarify, if a carbon tax is being reviewed does that mean there’s a possibility it would appear in the next 4 years if the Liberals were re-elected? It seems like a really progressive policy to help supplement the Green Energy Act.
4:08Dave Levac: Jim: Yes there is a possibility that a carbon tax is on the table to evaluate, because it presently is.
Then, more than an hour after being asked about this twice, Levac “corrects” himself.

Dave Levac: I want to clarify an earlier statement. A carbon tax is not on the table. It’s not in the platform, nor are we contemplating it.5:13
Dave Levac: it has come up in discussions previously, but it’s not on the table.
Of course, Dalton McGuinty has also said he likes carbon taxes and cap and trade in the past.

There you have it word for word….what next? well, IMO, Dalton continues from where he left off and, with the media permission without a battling question for the sake of the public, Dalton is freed to resume his objectives.
How many years has he been in government and still manages to this day, carry out what he promise not do.
I will not be surprised that Dalton returns to governing a ‘have-not’ province which he drove into.
I wonder what the carbon footprint of SLIME is?
McGuinty would like to get the whole election campaign wound up talking about all day kindergarten. Overspending, deficits, debt and taxes just don’t interest Ontario. You get the government that you deserve.
Hello Mr Lilley, I notice you are discussing spin. Spin is a subject you are undoubtedly an expert in. Was it not you Mr Lilley who upon the launch of Sun News this year, wrote a glowing rave review of a new talk show to be aired on the channel. The article you wrote was in the third person and the subject matter? Yourself! Yes Brian Lilley writes rave reviews of his own TV show…unfortunately some sub-ed must have either intentionally or not tagged it with the correct by-line thus exposing your blatant self promotion, how about that for Spin?
I am not the only one to say this but Dalton couldn’t have exceeded doing what he has/is doing into creating Ontario as a ‘HAVE-NOT’ province without the security and protection from the media and unions.
The fall of Ontario is no body’s fault but Dalton’s alone.
Dalton will bring in as many taxes as possible.. so what, he has done it before and will continue to do so.
