Honestly, that’s what I thought when I read this headline in the LA Times.
The Chik-Fil-A Appreciation Day last week worked because regular Americans were fed up with being called bigots for holding the exact same position on gay marriage that Obama held until a few months ago. There were also plenty out who just wanted to support free speech. The result was a day of record breaking sales for the chain.
How does that translate here?
I don’t think it does. First off no elected politician has said that they will try and block Starbucks from opening locations in their jurisdiction based on the coffee chain’s robust support for gay marriage. Secondly, I’m pretty sure most Americans who are that dedicated to gay marriage already go to Starbucks and know the difference between a macchiato and a latte.
So let’s just call this proposed day what it is, Wednesday. Other than media stories I don’t expect much to change.
