Explicit oral sex flyer at school was intended for older girls

- March 14th, 2012

Really?

That’s my take away from this story, that and the fact that the school board doesn’t give a crap about what they were handing out during a recent open house. This is a supposedly Catholic school, an all girls school but they are handing out flyers on how to perform oral sex.

Catholic board apologizes for oral sex flyer

SUDBURY, ONT. - Family members are shocked after Grade 7 Catholic school students received oral sex pamphlets meant for 18 year olds.

“My granddaughter is totally not into sex or anything like that. She could not believe that she was handed this in school. And when I saw it — I’m 62 years old — I was upset,” said Carmen James-Poulin, the grandmother of a student at Marymount Academy in Sudbury, Ont.

The explicit flyers were distributed Thursday during an open house at the all-girls Catholic school for students in Grades 7 to 12.

The pamphlet includes a guide on how to perform oral sex on men and women, as well as pros and cons to giving or receiving the act.

Ignore the fact that this is a Catholic school and that the administrators should have a higher standard on these sorts of things – when did it become okay to hand out pamphlets to any school girl telling them the ins and outs of oral sex?

I know that Dalton McGuinty would love to include this sort of material in his planned explicit sex-ed course for all Ontario children but really, this is going too far.

UPDATE: Here is the flyer in question. Do you want this going home with your kids?

Seriously someone should be fired over this there is no excuse for this and apologies just dont cut it. Of course the one responsible won’t be.

  2. Greg says:

I know children who are 13 years of age and do not know the capitals of the Canadian provinces/territories. They cannot do simple math without the use of a calculator. They cannot point to most countries on a map on command. Along with a host of other problems. But the ministry of education thinks it pertinent to be teaching kids how to blow each other? Get real, perverts

  3. Kevin McIntyre says:

I am lost for words. I just can’t believe any school board would hand out material like this.

  4. Dennis Pence says:

And Satan will appear in the church as an “angel of light”. Why am I not surprised.

  5. Alain says:

I admit to finding this whole “sex ed” nothing more than encouraging and inciting sexual activity among school children. It serves no purpose otherwise. The claim that it will prevent unwanted pregnancies, STDs , etc., is rubbish and has been proved rubbish based on reality. I am from a generation that did not have “sex ed” in school, although we have biology and were taught the parts of the body and their function, yet none of my generation had any trouble knowing about sex. Yes, even oral sex. At the same time teenage pregnancies, even children out of wedlock, were rare just as STDs. Times have changed but not for the better.

Sounds like a pamphlet printed by Planned Parenthood! They get in schools where school administrations are either blinded or down right stupid!

  7. Fritz says:

I have actually seen this very pamphlet before, it was being distributed by a local AIDS group in my area. I don’t know whether it has made it into schools in British Columbia yet, probably in the higher grades of 10,11 and 12, if anywhere.

  8. Fritz says:

It was just plain wrong to distribute this pamphlet to 13 year olds in an all girls school and it should not have happened, least of all without parental consent. I know that everyone is probably going to pounce on me for saying this but I would suggest to anyone over the age of 18 reading this blog that they take a look at the actual pamphlet and read it. If you read it carefully you will notice that even though the graphics are sort of tacky the content is pretty neutral and somewhat bland, it is not really what I would call explicit or graphic. It doesn’t actually give instruction or advocate techniques about performing oral sex acts so much as explaining what it is and how to avoid getting diseases from them. The main problem that I see, which is a common flaw with most sex ed materials, is that abstinence is not mentioned as an alternative even though it’s successful 100% of the time.

It is time that parents stopped believing that the school system will properly educate their children. They will get an education all right, but it will be a McGuinty-mandated education. Don’t think that the word “Catholic” over the front door means anything different either. We are in a war here, and the stakes are the souls of our children. The educational system wants to mold our children into the shape of the world, with worldly values and without faith. We have to resist, and equip our children to honour the values and principles they learned at home. And, as parents, we have to be extremely vigilant about what is going on at the school- it is your right and your duty as parents.

Apparently things have changed since I attended Catholic school.

  11. Bill Elder says:

I thought that Bill Clinton had established that oral sex was not sex per se. In that perspective what’s all the flap about. Perhaps these schools are recuiting camps for white house interns.

  12. George says:

My children went to Catholic schools for their entire elementary through high school educations. Believe me, this issue is minor compared to some of the goings on in Catholic education today. The system has been forced, by both government and from “progressives” within, to transform itself from a body that taught Christian morality and ethics as the standard of good citizenship, to an entity that is indistinguishable from the secular school boards. There is very little that is Catholic about today’s Catholic school boards.

  13. Bob says:

    Fritz,

    “Using the tongue
and lips on a vulva can make a girl feel
excited. Most girls want the focus of
oral sex to be on the clitoris (clit) which
    is the most sensitive part.”

“Some people insert a finger or toy
inside the vagina during oral sex on a
girl to add some extra stimulation.”

Sounds like instruction to me. It’s the same stuff you’ll find in adult sex manuals. Of course, instead of “women” these pamphlets say “girls”

It’s a sign of the times.

Modern organizational/social culture wants obedience and extinguishes dissent. There were likely staff who wanted and/or tried to speak up to stop this crap … but they obviously failed. Things (public/private) are now mostly run by bullies and sociopaths.

    Welcome to the 21st century.

  15. Roland says:

What a whacked out world we live in. I like the one “pro” for oral sex noted – may feel like you’ve maintained your virginity. Yes, pure as the driven snow…LOL

  16. Lynn says:

Absolutely disgusting!!!! They need to spend more time educating the kids on reading, writing and arithmetic!! Parental rights are being taken away more and more! I certainly hope someone is being reprimanded for this.

  17. Joe says:

In fairness to the school, the story can be read to see that the school did NOT intend this pamphlet at all. “Catherine McCullough, director of education for the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, said she regrets the oral sex pamphlet made its way into the school.”

  18. Jay says:

Wow! 2012 and people are still hung up about sex. Sexuality has nothing to with morality and everything to do with education and choice. I don’t see how discussing facts is automatically going to encourage kids to have sex. I have more faith in today’s youth than that! Also, don’t kid yourself, kids can and do access sexual info/pornography at very early ages. There is nothing wrong with putting a accurate, responsible message out there. Sticking our heads in the sand may make some feel better, but it will ultimately harm our kids!

  19. frankie says:

Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to distribute flyers warning about the dangers of sexual promiquity.Some-one there has made a very big public mistake, thank god that they didn’t include the male population. Not to offend the female side. And we the taxpayer, once again foots the bill.Some-one should be disciplined over this, perhaps they should distribute these flyers to the local jail. And wait for a response to see if this is what they practice when they preach.

  20. kevin clarke says:

Whether its appropriate or not, i dont think many of you realize how prevalent oral sex among school age kids is these days. Do you want to bury your heads in the sand like our parents did or help to our children make wise decisions. Pretending it doesnt exist wont make it go away. Just tell yourselves its for those ‘other’ kids because, oh my, OUR kids wouldnt do something like that. Wake up people, you are becoming your parents.

  21. Eileen Mancuso says:

Better they learn it now, most girls start early

  22. Andylarue says:

When a school presents this kind of information it is condoning it. There was no caveat contained with the information. It was handed out without context or regard. There was no instruction about abstaining. Also these are children. When you hand out a flier like this you are putting a mature issue into the mainstream of children. The apology from the board is hollow. It is their job/purpose to educate and protect. That includes materials and information diseminated through the school. The board broke its trust with the parents and the children. Not to mention that this is a Catholic school ( I wont even go there.) Total incompetence. That doesnt take the people who gave it out off the hook. This, at the very least should have been sent home as an information pack to the parents if it was to be handed out at all.

  23. Dan says:

Wow, this is just not right.
This is your government at work.

I think it’s time for home schooling, this way they can be taught everything the correct way. Get rid of the baby boomers in power and their ways, as they are responsible for everything going on now. A mistake? What if one of those students brought that pamphlet to school? The parents would have been blamed and investigated to the max with CAS involved. How about returning the favor. INVESTIGATE and fire the one responsible.

  24. Constantin Draghici-Vasilescu says:

I wasn’t going to jump into this fray but for the ineptitude stated above by Jay: “Sexuality has nothing to with morality and everything to do with education and choice.” Human sexuality impacts heavily on political, cultural, philosphical and legal aspects that are the very foundation of our way of life. Sexual morality is one of the foundations on which a society organizes itself and builds upon its legal system and culture.
It is precisely this intentional elimination of the moral aspects of sexuality that makes this pamphlet a monstruosity. The idea that it derives its justification from imparting ‘objective’ and arguably “useful knowledge” is a cover up for the blattant attempt to silence the morality discussion a parent would normally attach to this particular education.
I have long abandoned the naive idea that such ommissions are unintentional and innocent. All the comments expressing outrage above are instructive as they grasp the profound immorality of imparting such knowledge in an amoral context. The facts that it was passed on to 13 year old girls in a Catholic school is just the icing on the cake.
Having sex is not equivalent to using the bathroom. It has a profound impact on human development, on the society as a whole and may ruin the lives of our children. For the sake of our children – speak up against these practices and the state’s abusive usurpation of the values to be imparted to your children. Eek!

  25. Charles says:

Hmm, a 4 year old drawing a gun in school gets her father arrested and yet a school can hand out what amounts to pornography, with no repercussions. Seems those responsible did not even look at or read what they were handing out. I guess students won’t be getting stars for good behaviour it will be a sex toy so they can practice what they have learned. This will lead to a different take on having an “oral” test. Oh yes it’s a changing world we live in. Not for the better in my opinion.

  26. Lynn says:

They soft balloon this into schools to cause controversy and gain exposure to the subject, hoping to bring out the religious people and then show them as haters of ‘whatever’ it is they’re trying to get into the schools.
It’s been done before, made headlines before, and this is no exception.
If those who put this info there, can’t get it into the schools because it’s against someone’s rights or standards, they’ll circumvent the system and peoples rights by shock action.,,and this is it.
They’re sex-educating the kids, in what they believe is the sexual direction they want them to go.

  27. Lynn says:

Actually Kevin, I want to be like my parents and I want to be a good parent.
You miss the whole point, murder goes on in the world but that doesn’t mean we teach our children the fine arts of ‘how to do it safely’.
And the issue is; whether it’s appropriate or not.
I as a parent also know that the condom doesn’t prevent aids….and that std’s are a problem which condom’s don’t/aren’t preventing, especially human papillomavirus. Oral STD’s are also increasing…..so the thing is; is this pamphlet appropriate for children this age, answer is no, so deal with it…….and does this pamphlet actually prevent and discourage kids from being sexually active….answer again, No!
So who benefits from this stuff being taught or shown to kids? Why the only ones who it really benefits are the groups with a so called health agenda, aids awareness, getting donations and money through government social grants. They have to keep the fear up, the roll going……even if what they’re doing is wrong. It’s indoctrination, that’s all it is and the only way to slow down std’s/aids and abortion is to help the kids to have a moral guideline for their lives, themselves and wait until they’re mature enough to have sex.

I know! Let’s pretend kids don’t do these things without any instructions! Let’s pretend that kids aren’t getting STI’s from oral sex, which they -the kids- consider “heavy petting” nowadays and *not* sex. Let’s pretend that not educating kids about how to protect themselves from STIs will prevent them from every participating in icky, dirty, immoral oral sex. Good idea, folks! End sex ed! Please do not bring reality into this discussion whatsoever.
