Police arrested a Kitchener, Ont., father outside his daughter’s school because the four-year-old drew a picture of him holding a gun.

Jessie Sansone told the Record newspaper that he was in shock when he was arrested Wednesday and taken to a police station for questioning over the drawing. He was also strip-searched.

“This is completely insane. My daughter drew a gun on a piece of paper at school,” he said.

Officials told the newspaper the move was necessary to ensure there were no guns accessible by children in the family’s home. They also said comments by Sansone’s daughter, Neaveh, that the man holding the gun in the picture was her dad and “he uses it to shoot bad guys and monsters,” was concerning.

Police also searched Sansone’s home while he was in custody. His wife and three children were taken to the police station, and the children were interviewed by Family and Children’s Services.

Sansone’s wife, Stephanie Squires, told the newspaper no one told them why her husband had been arrested.

“He had absolutely no idea what this was even about. I just kept telling them, ‘You’re making a mistake.’”

Several hours later, Sansone was released without charges.

Whatever is in this man’s house is his business alone.

    Can you say POLICE STATE

  3. Lumpy says:

What idiot decided to call the police here. Another case of imo too many people sticking their nose where it does not belong Of course there is no recourse for the man and his family to take the people responsible for setting these wheels in motion to task for adding 1+1 and coming up with 7. The cops need to take a look at there actions as well. Way over the top.

Apparently the Canadian totalitarian police state is alive and well. “Promoting good Canadians values through force and fear and compliance.” Absolutely sickening.

Not mentioned but assumed, this was a warrantless search! Do the police in Kitchener wear brown shirts with swastikas on the sleave? Anyone not concerned about warrantless searches take heed of this story and watch what happens when paranoid teachers and police over-re-act to a baseless sourse of information.
One would hope a judge would have had enough common sense to deny a legal warrant had one been sought based on a drawing from a 4 year old but certainly any defense attorney worth his salt should easily had any evidence produced thrown out of court since the warrantless search was conducted with sufficent cause/grounds.
This hounding of gun owners – and now a non-gun owner suspected of maybe having a gun – is repugnant. Someone at that school needs to be fired along with the dumb-struck cops who over-reacted to the “complaint?”!!

Further proof why the Liberal Firearms Act must be dismantled like the gun registry. Otherwise this nonsense will continue and will only get worse. I would also like to point out that for some strange reason the cops act totally differently when it comes to situations like Caledonia. In that situation they turn a blind eye.

What has happened to our country? We once had one of the most professional and citizen friendly police forces to be found anywhere. But now there seems to be a trend of increasing keystone cops styled citizen abuse. I put it down to police being indoctrinated in the tyranny of zero tolerance to any PC taboos and abandoning Peel’s principles for reacting on politically correct paranoia. Obviously the quidnuncs in the school and social services are tag teaming with police to spread neurotic politically correct dystopia in the region.

People caught up in these bumbling attempts by public servants and police to enforce politically corrected law, using the neurotic reasoning of the PC witch hunter, should sue their butts back to the Stone Age for damages and false arrest in abscense of any evidence or reasonable cause. It’s a dangerous leap of logic, that only a dedicated witch hunter could make, to assume an innocent child’s drawing indicates a gun crime at her home. Then to lay charges without sufficient evidence, just punctuates the dark comedy of official paranoia displayed in this case.

When more abused citizens start suing for these insane statist interventionist abuses perhaps the police function and teaching function will return to the professionalism of a better day – before they were hijacked as the personal paramilitary enforcers of the political agendas of neurotic politically correct gate keepers.

The teacher who reported this should have his/her head examined. What was s/he thinking???

  9. Vic says:

that is what you get when you live in a leftwing province.

  10. ME says:

abuse of authority, bias, prejudice, violation of constitutional rights, violation of human rights…….

the teacher should be punished for her bias towards a DRAWING and calling the cops, the cops should be fired for abuse of citizens rights and freedoms.

  11. Tom Martin says:

This is insanity, those involved should be removed from any and all positions of authority.
What has happened to common sence in our great country.

This reminds me of the persecution that the fellow is going through for using a gun to protect his property from fire-bombing. What was the role of the gun in this drawing? It was being used to protect the family from outside threats. In other words, in a rational world, a perfectly legitimate use of a firearm. In fact, it is quite a wholesome drawing since it shows a child who recognizes the protective instincts of her father. Unfortunately, in our Politically Correct world, the very concept of “gun” is justification for persecution of a whole family. It’s nuts. Everyone involved in this incident should be fired. They have proven themselves incapable of dealing rationally with the public.

    Hello Brian

I was infuriated when I read this story. But you know it was instigated by a school teacher, who, like all others, was indoctrinated into socialist beliefs when they were in university.

Let’s remember that this teacher is from the same school system that wants to introduce gay, bisexual and transgendered lessons plans to elementary grade schools; you know children who aren’t even aware of what sexuality is.

The Ontario school system system (really all school systems), now full of these wonderful socialist leaders, would be better named the Chairman Mao school system. Brainwashing little potential socialists in the very fashion and methods Mao did. They are focusing on the children because the parents are either too stupid, complacent or too lazy to care.

And you are seeing the results more and more… the Occupy Movement is such a wonderful example of these little socialist. And it’s going to get worse. History tells me that. The Roman Empire (not to draw exact comparisons) wasn’t defeated by an external enemy… it was attacked from within and if you know enough about ancient history, the empire was destroyed by successive (what we call) entitlement generations.

What was really disappointing was that the cops actually bit… must have been a boring bloody day on the speed trap seeing how they seem to do nothing else.

    Cheers

    Andreas

  14. Bob Mackie says:

Too many situations today stem from anonymous complaints and people pointing their finger and hurling accusations that are unfounded. The practice of enforcement, acting on complaints without any investigation has to be stopped.

I believe if every person is supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, we should be able to face are accusers. In my mind the only exception would be for persons that have already committed a criminal act. A criminal by their actions has forfeited some of their rights until they have due process.

  15. Gin says:

Due to new security policies in place for our schools, anything suspicious regarding this sort of ‘behavior’, is to be reported. I would guess at discretion of the one ‘reporting’ but it does seem ‘hysterical’ behaviors take precedence rather than ‘common sense’.

  16. Jeff says:

They were just following their orders, people who own guns are obviously criminals and should be arrested and put in jail.

The gun registry worked, he had no license to own a gun, so the child informing on his father was more than enough justification to arrest him and put him in jail.

  17. Roccozam says:

Jeff you should know the facts before you write an idiotic comment like you did. The police in Kitchener have been sued successfully multiple times for acting outside of the law. They even harrass successful defense attorneys, Brownshirts they are, kind of ironic Kitchener being so proud of it`s German heritage, Police chief and cops involved should be fired along with all the other idiots involved.
