Reprimanded !!! What a laugh , what no swat squad going to his home bashing down his door in search of other weapons .No unsafe storage charges ??
Probably his reprimand will be a month off with pay
He MUST be charged with unsafe storage. We know that any civilian would be.
And there, Brian, you see in all its glory the 2-tiered law system of the police state. Let’s not delude ourselves any longer we are in a full blown police state – yes it isnt as bad as other despotic nations yet but it IS busting down doors of politically oppressed sub-culture groups – defenders of individual liberty, free speech and gun owners among them. Other politically favored groups like public servants, police and select minority groups have a get-out-of-jail-free-card.
Von Mises described tyranny as a state in which bureaucrats and police believe they are above the law and have an inherent right to makee and enforce the law to their benefit. That seems an appropriate snalogy of the modern police funtion and degenerated rule of law in Canada today.
A loaded revolver is nothing compared to the assault rifle and 180 rounds of ammunition found by two Barrie teens in the back seat of a Barrie OPP’s unlocked, unmarked car. There were charges laid in this case though. The teens were charged with theft and possession of a weapon. One received 18 months probation and 50 hours of community service. The judge was very harsh with the female officer, saying “But I find it shocking to hear that a firearm and 180 rounds of ammunition were kept in an unlocked vehicle by a trained officer… and then not report that it was missing for four days.”.

I don’t know what discipline the officer received but she was still on active duty a year after the incident. See

The justice system in this country is so screwed-up. In another column you were quoting the Charter in reguards to “all being equal before the law”! Nope, it ain’t so! Insult to injury, those in control of the system – who should be held to a higher standard – are the worst abusers and why not? They have immunity or at the worst face a fraction of the consequences they subject the ordinary citizen to.
Do a SNN poll and ask your viewers if they have respect for the justice system?
