Your guest betrayed his true nature/intent in UN involvement – he loves playing world policeman – and he seems to think it is a natural and needed step for the global police to leap from the battlefield into your dinner conversation (with a UNHRC enforced speech code) via UN intervention in domestic freedoms.
Cop mentality all the way. An arrogant presumption which appoints one’s self to police and regulate the affairs of other nations and peoples – and that cop mentality’s ultimate utopia is the full surrender of freedom for a coerced forced peace – a police state – in this case a global police state. This is your guest’s ideal.
No thanks Prof. You may have studied global conflict but you learned nothing of human nature or the historic record of police state despotism.
