There will soon be another way to wear Marc Jacobs, thanks to the designer’s new collaboration with Sephora.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, Jacobs has teamed up with the cosmetics chain for a full line of makeup products from foundation, eyeliners and lipsticks. True to Jacobs’ versatile fashion, three items; lip balm, brow tamer and colour corrector will be unisex, labelled “Boy-tested, girl-approved”.
Expect bright, bold colours and dramatic shades as Jacobs frowned on neutral makeup, calling it “a little lazy”.
“I like the transformative qualities of fashion and fashion to me is not just clothing, it’s handbags, it’s shoes, it’s clothes, it’s hair, it’s makeup, it’s fragrance, it’s the whole ritual of making those choices, of enjoying the ritual, of making the choices that will tell the world who you want to be that day,” Jacobs told WWD.
It appears a lucky few have already tested the new cosmetics line, as the Louis Vuitton creative director said he used his products on models at his last runway show, as well as director Sofia Coppola at the MET gala in May, and musician Kim Gordon.
Jacobs already has a line of fragrances for men and women and this extension into makeup seems like a natural step for the celebrated designer.
The full makeup line, Marc Jacobs Beauty, is expected to hit stores August 9, but keep an eye out next month at your local Sephora store for a teaser release of five products.
