Travel beauty bag part 2: Makeup

Once the sunscreen, passport, and beachwear is packed, there’s an inevitable question that pops into a woman’s mind: What to do about makeup?

No matter how adventurous or laid-back the trip, I don’t know one lady who would leave their abode for more than two days without a smidgeon of makeup packed. Unfortunately, just as one must limit their shoe allowance, their cosmetics bag must go on a serious diet before it meets the luggage.

Recent celeb beauty endorsements

A number of big name celebrity beauty endorsements were announced recently, and what better way to show off their acting abilities – than to pretend they use drug store products?

Here’s a rundown:

“Modern Family” funny/hottie lady Sofia Vergara will be the face of COVERGIRL cosmetics, with an ad campaign starting in January 2012.

From the looks of it, the brand is going for a slightly more sophisticated audience this time around, having cornered the girl-next-door market already with Taylor Swift and Drew Barrymore.

“We couldn’t think of a better person to represent our Brand. Sofia is gorgeous inside and out and has broad appeal,” said Vince Hudson, General Manager, COVERGIRL cosmetics in a press release.  “She personifies what it means to be a COVERGIRL through her confidence and beautiful sense of humor.”

Shiny, happy, princess hair

When Prince William and Kate Middleton visited their alma mater St. Andrews in February, there was one thing I couldn’t take my eyes off of: her hair.

Forgetting her long legs and perfectly flattering crimson skirt suit for a moment; Middleton was an absolute walking shampoo commercial while she and Wills strolled the sunny university grounds. Her long, thick tresses were lustrous and smooth – even in the wind. Grr!

What exactly does “Princess Shiny Locks” put in her hair?

Is she taking those pills they sell in natural health aisles at the grocery store?

Since the chances of us learning which products she buys are about as slight as finding out what the couple actually got up to at school, I thought I’d share my favourite shine enhancers, so that we may all posses luminous locks – if not a dashing prince…
