Even the Senators and Devils would rather be watching the Masters today, I think

- April 7th, 2012

Sitting here in the Prudential Center press box waiting for the start of the one Senators game this season I’d rather be watching from home.
That way I could turn the channel to the Masters and the Jays.
This Senators-Devils meeting has the makings of being another all-star game. That is, a no-hitter with really nothing on the line.
Players just want to get through it healthy for the playoffs.
Speaking of which, I’m supposed to remind people to get into the Sun Playoff Pool, which you can do through our web site. I’m sure all the good people who read Off The Posts – did you know that I came up with the name for this blog? Clever eh? – have already signed up.
I wonder how many Senators have been selected. Talk about dark horse picks. The Senators enter this day with just two goals in their last two games, both scored by Jason Spezza, and will face either Tim Thomas or Henrik Lundqvist in the first round.
With all due respect to Jonathan Quick, Thomas and Lundqvist are the two best goalies headed to the playoffs. Whichever one the Senators see will wind up being a big reason Ottawa doesn’t get to Round 2.
What a bold prediction that is, eh?
Anyway, it’s almost game time. I need to walk down the row and get another coffee. Something tells me I’m going to need it today.
