Hello Folks

Day 49 of the lockout for those counting at home … like me.
Personally, I’m tired of this work stoppage but I also know there’s nothing I can do about it so I’m not going to get frustrated.
I think the NHL is doing a lot of damage to itself.
The members of the NHLPA are losing money they won’t go back.
That we are here again is mind-numbing.
Trips to places like Binghamton are good because it’s a chance to see hockey. If you haven’t had a chance to go down there, you should. It is worth it. There is a Holiday Inn right beside the rink that’s a good place to stay. You can go have a cold beer around the corner and there are a couple of good restaurants.
Was on the road last month with Senators scout Pierre Dorion. Enjoyed the ride. Quite the lifestyle. Driving from town-to-town, seeing a couple of games a day.
These charity games will kill time. They fulfill the need for hockey.
Time is ticking away but I still think they’ll play this year.
I’m not angry at either side. Just tired of the whole thing.

Bruce, I have to think that most teams want to build their teams through the draft but the teams that fail the best during the regular season are better at it…don’t you think? It certainly didn’t look like Ottawa didn’t want to build through the draft the first fiew years…they wanted to do was trade picks to sign tired, old, over the hill veterans who were well past their primes.

As for the youngsters, are the Murrays surprised/impressed/disppointed with those who would be the teams fuure? Is Derek Grant and his 1g and 1 a and minus two best between Ziggy and Sly? Does that make a lot of sense? Does Pat Canone and his 1 pt and minus two in 9 games make good sense to center Andre Petersson? Does it make good sense to put Pageau and his 2 pts in 9 games in the middle with Hoffman? Really and truly, we all know that Pageau is a good hockey player but will never ever be and NHLer. Like DaOats-like Costa, he is nifty but sadly lacking.

Who gets the most PP time down in Bingo? Why is Fredrik Claesson even on the team (1 pt and minus 6 in 9 games). I would love for you to write an article on what Timmie, Dorion, Lee or Brian think of what is happening in Bingo. Zibby has yet to score a goal! David says the PP is predictably moving the puck to point for a shot! I am very inmpressed with and so should management be ith what Wierchock is doing. I would never have expected it. H and Boro are really the only two real bright spots. Could Richardson who never ever coached on the bench before be part of the problem?

As for the draft, it is my contention that as much as every team needs guys like Dorion to do the leg work, most of the work is done for them. There are really no surprises in N/A but there are some in Europe. Ottawa has not done well in the draft outside of Karlsson and Smith.

I am mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore. The NHL lockout is fast approaching the edge of the cliff, one step over and your business and livelihoods are in free-fall. Remember the damage that the baseball strike/lockout caused the game. 10 years to get back to the same revenue. The Expo’s gone, and Toronto crowds never recovered. A lot of people, myself included, just stopped watching the game.

Whenever I see owners or players commenting on their concern about how the lockout is affecting the Fans, my eyes roll upwards in disbelief. If the owners and players substituted the word ‘Dollars’ for the word ‘Fans’ in their comments, they might understand how we feel. Remember 50% of Nothing is Nothing. Remember that the Fans control the revenue, not the Owners and not the Players.

The current situation reminds me of pigs at the trough each pushing, trying to get more space. Keep in mind that each day the lockout continues, the amount of food going into the trough gets smaller. And not just for this year but for years to come.

I wonder what the extent of the injuries are to Stone and Cowan down on the Farm. Stone has now missed 5 games and Cowan 6! Is
