So, was this dirty or not?

Here’s a look at the Burrows/Winchester bench incident. I don’t like it. I think Burrows should be suspended. He won’t be, but he should be.

  1. I challenge anyone’s opinion that Yosemite Sam (Tortarella) is a good coach. Look at where that team sits. I had New York pegged as a contender for the prize this year but with this coach, it simply will not happen. They should be doing far better with the personnel they have which include the likes of the following up front:

Artem Anisimov, Brian Boyle, Ryan Callahan, Erik Christensen, Brandon Dubinsky, Ruslan Fedotenko, Marian Gaborik, Brandon Prust, 71 Mike Rupp (6′ 5″), Derek Stepan, Wojtek Wolski (6′, 3″)

    On defence:

Michael Del Zotto, Dan Girardi, Marc Staal, 32 Anton Stralman and Jeff Woywitka.

They also have (arguably) the best tandem between the pipes in Lundquist and Biron. But they have an annoying blow hard for a field marshal and suspect the players are tired of listening to him bark.

I will make a prediction that Ottawa 67′s Monahan will be in the top 5 draft picks when he is eligible (2 Years)and the Sens will lose tonight 5 – 2.

Bobby I really don’t mean to be on the opposite side of again but have you looked at the standings?

The Rangers are 8th in the NHL, only 3 points out of first in the league with 2 or 3 games in hand on everyone in front of them (except for the Sharks who they are tied with). After a pretty slow start (how many teams have started well when overseas to begin?) they rattled off 7 or 8 wins in a row I think and have been very good lately.

They also have the 5 best goal differential in the league now.

I don’t care about the Rangers so I won’t defend them like I do Karlsson but they can’t do much better than they are doing now.

  3. Zibby isn’t doing it in the SEL. I wonder what is going on? On the positive side, Stone is shining big time. If people wonder about his skating, they need to look at great players in this league who are not the most elequent skaters around but make up for it with their smarts and strength; Corey Perry is one great example.

  4. OD99 says:

No doubt! Great point about skating in the NHL – of course it is important but if you have a nose for the net and anticipate plays you can make up for a lack of foot speed. Plus he is a kid – he can improve his skating quite a bit still.

He is also making a mockery of the WHL…over 2 points a game is outlandish and he is very consistent to boot as I believe he has been held pointless only once or twice so far this season. I am really excited to see how he performs at the WJC against other top players but the W is a tough league to play in so being a top scorer there proves a lot to me.

I am not surprised (although certainly disappointed) about Z-bad…I think lots of players that get sent back after such a taste of the NHL are slow starters…this is probably me just putting a spin on things but I really just want Z-bad to get stronger, faster and continue to develop.

On anothe note and quite contradictory to my comment above – very nice to see Stefan Noesen turn things around after a pretty rough start. He was about 0.5 points a game and -13 at one point now has 27 points in 23 games and is a +4.

  5. ……….you are right…………………………I just cannot stand Yosemite Sam aka: Leghorn Foghorn; aka: Papa Smurph. That team should be runaway leaders. Not only do they possess a lot of skilled players in the lineup but, they are huge! They are also very tough! They do not need Avery; he is a distraction, an embarrassment and a joke. They brought him back up from the manures to the bigs because they believed the team needed him? He offers nothing. You are right about Z/bad. I want him to succeed because I saw a lot of effort and grit in his play. He wanted to stay and measure his play against the others. Peumpal and Neosen look good…Stone, fabulous!
