The Senators arrived home Wednesday. They didn’t tell Stepane Da Costa to find a place to live. He could be gone by noon tomorrow.
The Senators waived Da Costa at noon. He will clear tomorrow.
He hadn’t played. In the games he did play, he hadn’t proved he could play. The time has come to move on. Those with common sense felt he would clear waivers at the end of camp. There were others who didn’t think he would. I was never in the camp.
So he’s gone, what’s next?
Well it makes sense to bring back Mika Zibanejad but I don’t think the plan is to bring him back immediately.
They were mad at him after he had what they felt was a lousy camp.
They haven’t said whether he’ll be back but I would suspect he’ll be back at some point. Da Costa isn’t the only one struggling. JG Pageau hasn’t been much better and his ice time has fallen big time.
The first thing the Senators have to do is get Da Costa through waivers. They will. It hasn’t worked. This club needs to get bigger. Zibanejad is at least a bigger body.
