On the road again

- January 20th, 2014

The Senators hit the road again for a four-game trip _ this one starts in Washington Tuesday.
The Senators are coming off two straight losses _ an OT defeat to Montreal and a 4-1 loss Saturday to the Rangers at home _ so they need to get back on the winning track.
The club has won five straight vs. the Capitals so it’s a good place to start.
The road to the playoffs could be paved with this next 10-game stretch before the Olympic break.
A strong record here and sitting in a playoff position before every goes their separate ways for almost three weeks would go a long way. The Senators only have two players going to Sochi so they will have an advantage.
They can set the tone for the season in the next 10 games. Big stretch ahead.

I see that DaCosta is making a return to the big club and have to say I simply LOVE the move. He is slick and knows how to set up plays with his great mitts. I wonder if he will simply replace Stone on Spezza’s wing?

That would cause the least amount of movement in the lines and give Spezza a fairly speedy player with good hands and offensive instincts. Hope Stone isn’t hurt too bad but he looks like he could use a bit more seasoning in the A before he could be a permanent fixture in the NHL.

It is too bad they send up Petersson though as he has been on fire recently – i wonder if they are done with him now as I doubt he comes back to play in the A next season if he can make a lot more playing back in Europe. Puempel has been showing his touch for Bingo recently too and that is encouraging considering he took quite a while to warm up and we all know if you don’t jump in and light things up instantly you are doomed to failure.

As a whole the young team in Bingo has fared quite well and I think we will see a few of them as regulars in the near future, perhaps as early as next season (although Lazar might just make a push too).

Bruce, I picked up the Sun years ago because of the sports primarily (and Ezra, Monte, John and the comics aka: Kinsella) and that is why it disapoints me to read pieces I know you don’t truly believe. You certainly know the game but have allowed the politics of the sport to override facts. For you to suggest that “Stone was skating well” is absolute nonsense. He wasn’t skating well and he wasn’t even skating well by his standards!!!!! But, this is what we get these days and you are not alone, sadly we see it everywhere in all the media.

I read that Da Costa is coming up from bingo for his 3rd stint. Why?

The Owner can CSI the CookeCutGate thing to death, it wouldn’t solve solve a thing but will add to Melnyk’s legacy of acting like a rich fool. Two years ago he told the media to hold on ’cause his team was going all the way. He struggles to find words and put coherent sentences together in an interview. The other day he said there were a lot of idiots who spend to the cap (it may be true but for an Owner it is a classless thing to say) and now he is in NY to present the findings of his Forensic Analysis? 99% believe it wasn’t intentional (just like the Bolland cut wasn’t intentional) and no one can get inside Matt Cookes head to know for sure. If it was intentional, he must have reacted in a “rapier-like fashion” to make it so. It’s all so very silly and doesn’t serve the Owner or the Organization well. Forget about sexy, bring class back baby!

I heard Simmer on the radio for a bit yesterday and although I agree with much of what he has to say, there are times I do not. Effectively he said Ovechkin is a stupid hockey player, he went on the say that the Russian Coach doesn’t know what to do with him. To Simmer, OV doesn’t control the game…but Karly does (Yikes!). I believe OV is a brilliant hockey player, the only problem, his heart goes on vacation! The man is fast, strong, tough, can sickhandle, deke, he truly can go around or through you, debatably the best shot in the league, has geat vision, anticipation and very physical. But, like Karly and B4, only goes when he wants. Karly is fast but not strong. He isn’t tough but can stickhandle. He can skate around but never through. Has a good shot but not even close to the best. He has great vision/anticipation but isn’t physical at all. He is on the ice for far more goals scored against, he never ventures into the 4 corners, is horrendous in is own end and disappears in tough games. How the hell is this contolling the game?

As much as I dislike the new venacular: “time and space, gap control, puck pursuit, puck pressure, puck management, puck luck, separating the man from the puck, redirect, puck distribution, left side lock, active stick,
net front presence”, I heard the worst yesterday. As bad as Gord Wilson’s “great opportunity recogniton and activation” was, the Bruin PbP guy said, “I love the effort-based system Julien uses”.

  3. Bobby Goodman says:

I would like to add this; there are a few here who describe others as “haters”. It really doesn’t make a lot of sense. I have often been described that way becasue I would prefer other players on the team. Some have said I hate foreign players but they surely know that isn’t true. Over the years I have loved the way they have played.

But I ask this question, why would I “hate” some but “love” others on the same team?. How could I “love” any player when my favourite team is Montreal? The answer of course is I don’t hate anybody. But I do hate the way some play. I must hate Kane and B4 as well as Karly. Why do I “love” Turris, Ryan, Mac and Smith, Methot, Boro, Lehner/Anderson, ? Why do I “hate” Da Costa, Stone, Pageau, Greening? Damn I got a lot of hate in me huh? If I hate “foreigners” why did I love so many and by the same token, why do I “hate” so many from North America? The entire discussion is reall stupid.

I, like a few here Dan the Man (his secret identity but he is really Murph…but don’t let anyone know please),
Pierre, Neil and others simply want the club to be better. I want them to do what the GM promised 3 years ago “compete with the League’s very best”. Has that happened? If not why not and if not, why are so many of the Manic Faniacs so very willing to accept it? To us “haters” we took the GM at his word but now we are told we need to wait until 2016, the 5th year of the 3 year rebuild when they will “win the Cup”. Lets get real here please. It looks like it is a moving target! I remember asking 3 years ago what the BLS would do if the 3 year RB didn’t pan out…no one responded of course, but they sang “haaaaterrrrr” in perfect harmony!!!! Every Year I ask what they expect from the team and every year the BLS say the team will be good…they aren’t.

I remember when Vermette was unappreciated for scoring 20 goals as a 3rd and 4th liner, now we are celebrating kids who aren’t even NHLers…why?…because the team is that bad and fans are so very fickle. Mikey will reserve judgement on playeers Pageau and Stone denying what his eyes tell him. Bruce will (sometimes) leak his real feelings like he did today suggesting a change in defence was necessary (NO KIDDING!). The BLs are lovers because they love Da Costa, Pageau, Gryba, Wiercoch, Greening, Neil, Zzzz, Philips, Karly (and is bad behaviour), Stone…. We “Haters” don’t really hate anyone, we just want the team to return to respectability. We want them to tuly compete with the best…we want to be ENTERTAINED!!!!!!

I accept the notion that the BLS members are part of a fan club but I would urge them to demand more…they don’t. When the team is awful in 2016, they’ll still be carolling the same song calling people like me, Murph…oops…Dan the Man and Neil Haters “haaaaterrrrrrs”!

Davey-boy will still favor Zzzz over Couturier who got an assist yesterday, has 23 points in 50 games after playing for an idiot and saw 6min…

  4. PaV says:

OD – I heard on the radio this morning that its going to be Pageau? Like you, last night I heard it was DaCosta.

The game should be interesting. Coming in to the NYR games the SENS were one of the hottest teams in the NHL – hopefully it was just a one off. They team has been playing great of late.

OD – I am not sure why you engage anymore. The haters on here will be haters and always will be.

  5. Bobby Goodman says:

….Couturier saw 6 more minutes killing penalties yesterday in the team’s loss to the Islanders. Will Zzzz kill penalties tonight and will we see him up against Ovechkin? I don’t think so. What do you think?

But, Davey-boy thinks that Couturier’s 5 more minutes a game (killing penalties) gives him more opportunty to accumulate points. He dismisses Couturier’s work covering top scorers. He endorses soft play on the periphery, delegating physicality associated with the forcheck (and puck pursuit) to the diminutive Conacher. Davey-boy likes to see Zzz with Michalek starting a PP in an important game (they’re all important now). He has no issues with Zzzz and Michalek and there combined -28 starting in OT (I say that because when asked he had nothing to say…and silence is an endorsement, yes?). And, Davey-boy supports Zzzz with Conacher and Michalek while Spezza gets the priviledge of playing nonight with Greening and his 4 goals in 49 games and Stone’s 1 in 10. I am sure Davey is excited Condra’s 5 in 43 will replace Stone tognight. All makes perfect sense to the multitudes who are certified members of the Blind Lemming Society.

While Zzzz has seen an abundance of support no matter what (Coach, GM and by default, the fans) Couturier was in the dog house in Philly until the new Coach arrived and his numbers have refected that!

Zzzzz, the slick playmaking Center, numbers by month are:

October – 2g and 1a (didn’t start the year and scored a grand total of 2 goals in the manures)

November – 5g and 2 assists, half of his goal output for the year! Oh, he had 2 assists

    December – 2g and 4 assists; and

    January – 1g and 2 assists

The Playmaking Shooter has 10g and 9 assists

Couturiear was reduced to only a checking role by his Coach and his confidence suffered (this is not me…this is the word of “hockey experts”). His numbers by each month look like this:

October – 0g but the center got 3 assists

November – 3g and and the playmaking center got 4 assists

December – with confidence back he got 4 goals and 4 assists

    January – 1g and 4 assists.

From the time the coaching change was made, Couturier (the kid whoe’s numbers in the Q were useless 96 in 58 games, certainly not as good as Zzzzz 5g in the SEL) has managed 5 goals and 8 assists. While he is, as they now say, “trending” Zzzz is not. In the same time, Zzzz has 3 goals and 6 assists. And….Couturier plays against the other teams very best…and…he kills every penalty (as I said, he had 6minutes on the PK yesterday). Yet, Dave-boy would prefer Zzzz over Couturiear. Couturier is also more of a playmaker with 15 assists to Zzzzz’s 9.

Sean has 23 points playing a tough game and only minus one. Zzzz plays soft and has 19 points and is minus 9. Davey-boy loves him though. Just like he loves Da Costa. He “loves that Da Costa is up with the Sens tonight”!!!! And why not, he loved him the first time, the second time and now the 3rd time.

  6. OD99 says:

Actually Bobby this whole Couturier thing over Zibby came from your brain – not mine.

One day you decided to tell me that I liked Zibby over Couturier and how dumb I was because of it…that is really where it started. Like many items on here, a complete fabrication on your side. You even have the gall to tell Bruce he is essentially lying when he is writing a piece – you tell him he doesn’t believe what he writes!!! The ego on you is enormous.

I merely think since we have Zibby that we should give him some time to develop and appreciate the things he does do well. Since you don’t see that he does anything well then we have a disagreement. Most of the time there is a shred of truth to what you and indeed, what the rest of us say (I know you can’t fathom that others can possibly be correct) but since you are so BLACK and white then you get push back. To you Karlie is awful, terrible, heartless, gutless, etc…when you use those words people are going to take you to task because it isn’t the whole picture. You will give a condescending and sarcastic back-handed compliment (he is wonderful from the other teams face-off dot and down) so you don’t get any respect back because you have zero balance to your rants.

It is also because your rants are the same stuff, over and over and over and over and over and over again that you get the same responses.

Anyway, dealing with you really is impossible because you create these narratives in your head about what others believe and then roll with it despite however many times people tell you that you have it wrong. I don’t know why you come here as you really have no desire to actually engage someone…you just want (and here is the irony) mindless lemming to say how great and smart you are for your “hard hitting” and courageous comments.

Spezza is now 797 out of 811 players in the NHL with his -17

  7. ChokerHater says:

Oh my god, the owner is making a fool of himself AGAIN ! ! !
Looks good on him and the franchise.
    SkateGate and AlfieGate

  8. PaV says:

Oh I can’t wait for the rant on how the only reason we won was because Ovie was out of the lineup.

Great game by all. Spez had one of his better games.

  9. Mike8888 says:

A nice win last night. Anderson was solid. I questioned whether they should have started the Lehner but obviously Anderson was the right decision. Ceci is sure looking good. Who was it again who wrote that Ceci wasn’t a good prospect? I believe it was Bobby.

  10. Bobby Goodman says:

Wrong MIkey, what I said was “based on what we saw in Rookie Camp, he wouldn’t be a good prospect”. Do you remember how he played. I said he looked like he had no confidence and I gave credit to Richardson for developming his confidence down in the manures. Sound familiar Mikey? I was quick to congratualte the kid for playing fantastic hockey and I hope it continues for the long haul but we will have to wait and see.

Anderson wasn’t necessarily the right decision Mikey, he won and he got a shut out but who says Lehner wouldn’t have done the same? Was Anderson the right choice the last two games?

The Captain didn’t have to play with Greening and Stone last night so the lapdogging Fool jumped on the band wagon and praised him (albeit in a subtle manner). What happened to him? Why wasn’t he “brutal, awful, non-existent and slow”? We could leave that to a Fool but he would be at a loss to answer the question.

Has anyone else been described as “brutal, awful, non-existent, slow” this year? I wont put that to the Fool because I know he wont answer it, but I will….no one! Zzzzz the kid that the BLs all celebrate is on the slide; perhaps Couturier is getting 5 more minutes of icetime per game because he does much more. Last night the Shooter had 2 shots. Last night the playmaking center didn’t get a goal or an assist. Last night the Coach had so much confidence in him he limited his play to 11 minutes of icetime and that includes 2:41 on the PP!!?? Someone, anyone please explain this to me! He got almost as much PP time as Turris and more than Ryan!!!!! I know a lapdog and fool would do the same but what about those who understand the game? Davey-boy? Afterall, you love him to.

If someone was to be called “brutal, awful, non-existent, slow” wouldn’t/shouldn’t that apply to Zzzzz? What about Stone, Kassian, DaCosta the 1st, 2nd and now the 3rd time with the club. What about the GM’s first round pick, Obrien? What about Cowen, Gryba. No…those descriptions were reserved for the Captain only. The Papers didn’t celebrate his game last night! They didn’t mention the jump in his step, his 5 shots on net, his control of puck and the PP! Why? What a Fool wouldn’t understand is, as much as a playing with boat anchors may wear someone down physically and emotionally, playing with some who arent’ can do the opposity. No, Smith isn’t the best player in the world but, he can skate, wants the puck, will win battles, can carry the puck and he can score goals. Condra can skate and carry the puck and make smart plays. Greening and Stone can’t!

Mikey had nothing to say about Spezza but Anderson and Ceci looked good and I was wrong when I said early this year he wasn’t a good prospect. Davey-boy been muzzled. The Fool was his typical self, a fool and the best he could offer was “Spez had one of his better games”. It was afterall, very obvious. He wouldn’t/couldn’t offer a reason as to why.

  11. PaV says:

Mike8888 he did look good eh? I also like how DaCosta looked as well. Spez scored a beauty last night. The Turris goal was pretty awesome.

I wonder what excuses will be made to why we won yesterday. Ovie was out of the line up. The Caps are hurting. There was a snowstorm.

  12. KevinF says:

Big relief that Geno presented his iron clad forensic case to the guy to whom is his defacto employee. Not a transparent face saving maneuver at all! Must have been difficult for the folks who sat in on the “presentation” to keep a straight face, surely there was some fordesque drunk driving mimes when the great Bermudian turned to his visual aids.
Is this really what the organizations head man has been preoccupied with? I know Melnyk thinks that those who spend close to the cap are inferior beings when compared to his brilliance but if I was a Sens fan I’d certainly want the franchises focus to be improving the team in a ultra tight playoff race. Cap geek says that today the Sens have 18 mil in space couldn’t at least a percentage of that be spent on providing the teams 7 mil Captain a proven NHL scorer on his wing, Cammelleri or Moulson for example? Or maybe a vet defenceman ? Guess not the truly crafty treasure the millions in space and go on Toronto radio and say foolish things, then invent silly scenarios to try and look less buffoonish.

  13. Bobby Goodman says:

Tell me something Dave, did you think Stone was “skating well”? Was he even skating well for him?

As for Couturier vs Zzzzz I said, even before the draft, I would take the kid. After Zzzz was taken, I asked why given what Couturier did playing in the CHL which develops more NHLers than any other league. You, as per usual supported the selection. Now you’re softening your position, you offer you were merely saying since the team now has Zzzz they should give him time to develop. What hogwash Davey-boy! You have always been adamant that Zzzz was far better! You are a good soldier Davey-boy. Go here, jump there, say this and don’t say that…believe this. You are void of orginal thought. I should share with you that you can’t develop courage.

Again Davey my boy, you resort to the extreme because you have nothing. I have always said the Karlsson has world class talent but, he doesn’t really give a damn if he wins or loses. I have said he avoids the corners like the plague and concedes the puck to tinies like Ennis (am I lying about that?). I have said he is awful in his own end of the rink, isn’t he? If a player quits on a play/game, doesn’t that mean he is heartless Davey-boy? I think all those things are indeed terrible…you and your BLS members, celebrate it! Just like you celebrate Zzzz (who you now think needs time to develeop….its comical really). You and your manic faniacs love Stone, Pageau, DaCosta (the 1st, 2nd and now the 3rd time with the club). You loved Butler, Winchester, Rund’sbad (who can’t make the Coyotes). You love Gryba and Greening, subject of trade talks but no one wants them. You love it all my Blind Lemming Society member!

You jump on Spezza, why…because I like him and I am the silly one. I want more, I want better…you and your lemmingites, don’t really care.

Indeed, you guys call him slow, brutal, non-exitent and awful never bothering to look beyond the obvious (because you are incapable). Last night, becasue he was removed from bums (you endorsed that too) he scored a goal and had a very good game…SHOCKER! He led all forwards in ice-time with over 18 minutes…I suspect it wasn’t because he was awful, brutal, non-existent and slow! Did you and your Lemingites have anything great to say…nope…it would hurt to much!

The awful, brutal, non-existent and slow Spezza has scored 241 goals and had 4513 assists in 656 games in the best league in the world; it would have been much more had he played with ‘hockey players” recently. Oh, in the 656 games he is plus 63 and that’s counting the -17 this year playing with bums.

In the post season he has 52 points in 56 games and minus 2, not too bad when you consider the team has been God awful since Murray took over!

Where as you and your Society members save your venom for Spezza, you heap praise on others who are awful, brutal, slow and non-extisten. As for Bruce…I have only asked for candor…c’est ca.

  14. ChokerHater says:

The only reason the Sens won last night is because Ovie wasn’t playing. One of the best players in the NHL. Take Crosby off the ice and the Penguins are a .500 hockey team, and Ovie is more important to Washington that Crosby is to Pittsburgh

  15. Mike8888 says:

    Bobby,
The reason the Sens drafted Pageau is because he dominated Couturier in a playoff series. We probably won’t truly know if he is better than Zibby for a few seasons. Yes, Spezza played well, is a valuable member of the team, and I hope they resign him.

  16. Bobby Goodman says:

Right on Kevin. Calling the other Owners “idiots” for spending to the Cap isnt very classy, but then again, Eugene never was classy. He has his lap dog with him in NY but I’m not sure Bryan really has his heart in it. But hey, if I was going to be rewarded again and again for failure, I would go on stage with my boss and be part of a comedy skit too! Afterall, it is said that a GM makes $1m/yr.

While you, a staunch Leaf fan, can recognize the absolute folly putting the Android and Stone on with the 7m dollar Captain, the BLS members here all bless it and then…crucify him for his lack of productivity calling him awful, brutal, non-existent and slow. No other player in their history has seen such disresect. It is sad really. I would love to see Spez in Toronto and far, far away from Murray, Coach, media and the multitudes of “haters” who are more than content to miss the post season 3 out of 7 years and get bounced early when they do. That makes them “true fans”.

There isn’t one of the True Fans here willing to offer an explanation why the DAC would start an OT with two players who are collectivey -28 and struggling (even when I openly asked for one). There isn’t a single fan who is willing to offer an explanation why Zzzz would get more icetime with the man advantage than those who lead the team in scoring? There isn’t a single fan willing to explain why DaCosta (who many of the BLS love – once, twice…three times) is up with the team when there are others in the manures far more deserving. Perhaps his 4 goals in 39 games is awe inspiring to some (it is enough to get Daveyboy giddy with excitement). He will get long looks (39 games in total…or is it now 40) but Hoffaman and Petersson(the man who will be Spezza’s right winger for the next 10 years) will get a game or three.

A fan is not supposed to question; I was taught wrong I guess, I always thought it was healthy to question and anything worthy should hold up to scruting…how wrong I have been all these years. True fans embrace failure; how else might someone explain the BLS united in their support of Bryan Murray. How else might someone explain why they’re all united in their total dismissal of the THREE YEAR REBUILD. And, how elso might some explain thier united suport for a 5 year rebuild (when the 3 year one made the team wose) with the promise of a STANLEY CUP no less!

How dare I question! How dare anyone! This is sport…this is entertainment…well it is supposed to be. GMs before built a Stanley Cup contender; what did Murray build?

No one is willing to offer why this team is 4th worst in the league for goals allowed and why the DAC can’t stem the tide? Why he would only play Zzzz 11 minutes but put him on the ice for 4:11 on the PP (more than Bobby Ryan who leads the team in scoring (could it be because he is a “shooter”). Why didn’t Smith get a single minute on the PP last night…any night? Why does Philips get PP time?

  17. Bobby Goodman says:

Hoffman, 2nd in AHL points with 45 and 3rd in goals with 18 stays in Bingo. Petersson is the only other B/Sen in the top 20 AHL goal scoring race with 15. Hoffman was the QHL MVP and a finalist for the best junior in Canada. Wouldn’t one of them look good with Spezza? Both are gifted and both are fast, in particular, Hoffman (but he got his 3 games this year).

  18. OD99 says:

Bobby you are an idiot – plain and simple.

I am not going to go over my thoughts with you again since you have made it painfully obvious you are incapable of understanding what other people write.

Now you are down to suggesting I / we don’t respond on here fast enough? I am silent because I have a job that keeps from being on here night and day and then of course there is the whole moderation thing…

I couldn’t care less what you dream up in your head about what I think on any subject. You have won, you have worn me down. I have stated my opinion over and over again and you simply disregard (actually my money is still on the comprehension being off).

It is almost literally like this:

Dave: “Wow, the sky is a nice clear blue today”

Bobby: “Davey-boy, blind lemming, fool, (whatever other immature name you can think of) you are so lucky to be so dumb that you would say the sky is purple!!! Have courage, learn and maybe one day you can say the sky is blue.”

Dave: “uh Bobby, I just said the sky is blue”

Bobby: “Grow a pair, I may be old and easily fooled but I can see that the sky is blue Dave – why are you so blind and calling the sky green?!?!?”

Dave: “Bobby, again for the record, I said the sky is blue”

Bobby: “You say the sky is yellow??!?!?! Why? Because the media told you to? Get an original thought Davey-boy, lemming!!!!! And by the way, why do you endorse (x, y, z things I never mentioned before)”

See how that goes? Not fun at all so I choose not to play anymore. I already lowered myself enough and have tried to smooth things over by giving my opinion very clearly (even in point form to limit the confusion) but to no avail.

So just so you know, regardless of whether you care or not, I don’t see any reason to engage with you on here because you don’t want to engage, you want to attack and you want to be right.

You can keep insulting me and aiming whatever attack you want at me – it won’t be read.

Didn’t see the game last night but have it PVRed and will watch it when I get home Friday night – sounds like Anderson had a good game with 34 saves so I assume the D wasn’t that great (surprise) but saw the Turris goal – that kid is just getting better and better.

Hope DaCosta saw some time off the 4th line and like Zibby’s 73% in the face-off dot. Too bad he is saddled with two guys who can’t score right now.

  19. Visitor - Pierre D. says:

Didn’t bother reading OD since he basically sidetracked everything.

Bobby, Karlsson has been hitting lately. Have you noticed and is this more to your liking?
He is still conceding his end to tiny players (letting the miniscule Brian Gionta muscle past is shameful) but at least he’s learned to use his shoulders.

The rebuild is a sham Bobby. Murray knows there are not many teams looking for a 75-year old man that has never won and that makes more excuses than he does winning decisions. Our owner is daft and gullible (and, ALLEGEDLY, tipsy more often than not) so he just nods dumbly whenever Murray tells him he wants something, and jumps when Bryan tells him to jump.

Melnyk says idiots spends to the cap. Ok. You know who else spends to the cap? WINNERS. The Cup winners since the 2005 lockout had at most 1-3 million free in cap space? Why? Because money is a resource. If you have a resource in abundance ($20,000,000 free is abundant) and you let it wither then you won’t win. Why? Because other teams aren’t using stupid, arbitrary rules to look smart or have some artificial moral high ground. The Senators may miss the playoffs this year; in fact, they’re more likely to miss than make. Imagine if Scroogenyk had allowed Murray to spend $4,000,000 on a defenceman. The team might allow less goals and win more games.
But we hear about cost-per-point and I wonder, what’s the cost of having an empty arena from April to September? WHat’s the cost in season ticket renewals being ignored because you presented a mediocre team?

Melnyk says we win the Cup in two years. I ask: How is Bryan Murray, who has not won in close to 40 years in the NHL, going to figure it out now? Murray (or rather TIM Murray) has a good eye for young talent but is too in love with deteriorating players like Neil and Phillips, both of whom should be thanked and shown the door soon. His team is slow and averse to defence. How are the Senators going to win against BOS, PIT, X in the East then CHI/LA/STL in the West? Simple answer: They won’t.

Once Murray (finally) goes off in the sunset he will have been here 10 years and we likely will not have seen a cup finals, let alone a Conference finals. But morons like The 6th Sens and SilverSevenSens think this is admirable! Foolish youth, learn to think and ask questions!

    (Continued)

  20. Visitor - Pierre D. says:

    (Continued)

Now I hear the DAC has benched Methot for no reason. One of our soundest defencemen is incapable of playing because of a “BOBO”. I listen to MacLean and wonder if he doesn’t have a hole in his head. Who above the age of 8 uses the workd “BOBO”? Do you think Methot uses it? I didn’t hear it out of him anyway. I hope that we get a new coach after MacLean, one who comports himself like an adult, speaks like an adult, takes his job seriously like an adult and doesn’t use stupid language. The DAC is playing Anderson nonstop. Why? ANderson wins only when the team plays airtight in front of him. The Lobster Farmer, looking lost as always, said: “Three breakaways.” when asked why Anderson had allowed those goals vs. a fast, hard-skating, tough Montreal team. So if Anderson can never stop breakaways, what will he do in the shootout? What about the playoffs if a guy like Bergeron or Crosby gets a breakaway, do we lose? Why is Anderson a quitter?

The DAC says “I think we’ll like where we are in April.” Newflash Paul: The Senators are on pace for 87 points. The last Wildcard is on pace for close to 92-93 points. You need to get off your duff and you need to get over yourself and you need to make smart decisions to get this team into the top three in the Atlantic, because the team will get mercilessly pummeled otherwise. But do we get any insight? No. All we get is “I’m scared to death.”

If the coach is scared, how will the team play? Will they be brave or will they take the lead from their daft coach?

BOBBY! I’M SORRY I CAN’T TYPE ANYMORE! AJ JAKUBEC IS COMING THROUGH THE DOOR!
HE’S WIELDING AN APPEAL TO AUTHORITY FALLACY! APPARENTLY THE COACH IS ALWAYS RIGHT!

Hopefully the Senators don’t blow it against Tampa Bay (a real good team) and the Jackets (A good rising team) and the Hurricanes (an average team, but the Senators always struggle in Raleigh.

Don’t worry Bobby, our owner says we have so many good prospects that the NHL roster can’t fit them?
    DOesn’t that make them…mediocre?

You are a good soldier Davey-boy but an awful writer. You insult yourself with blind alegience. You go ahead, you and your Lemming friends and support it all. The good part is, you are always entertained and you will never be disappointed! It matters not that the team will miss the post season this year for the 3rd time in 7 years (out in the 1st twice and 2nd twice). It doesn’t matter that the GM promised results after the 3 year rebuild…now you and your BLS members are quite happy to wait until 2016 (maybe Zzzz will be a hockey player then…maybe you and the other lemmings will see DaCosta get his 4th goal by then!). Zibby, the shooter/playmaker is great and DaCosta and his 4 goals in 39 games are enough to make you giddy with excitement.

At least Michalek got the majority of his points palying with the guy you call, awful, slow, brutal and non-existent Spezza (who you now hate). You are too cowardly to even offer an explanation why Zzzz (now your favourite player) would get more PP time than Ryan or why he and Michalek and their combined -28 would ever start an OT (I suspect that decision had your total endorsement….as expected). And…you think DaCosta is he best choice to get promoted from the manures.

Have you ever had an issue with anything…anything at all other than me and the players I like Davey-boy? I should let you go now…I beieve the BLS members are waiting on your for your chearleader fitting! Go Sens go……..

Man Bobby you are a tool plain and simple. Like OD said, an idiot. Like the village idiot who deserves his own Island. We can send Choke with you as well. Let’s be clear here, you know nothing about the game. Your posts are repetitive, insulting and childish. Give it up. Everyone on here thinks you are a tool. I equate you to a troll who goes to other team blogs and insults them.

You were taught to question? I laughed out loud at that comment. You don’t question. You think you are right, but everything you say is crap.

Subaan was a -3 last night and looked like a pylon out there. That must mean he was the best player on the ice. (Bobby logic).

  23. Bobby Goodman says:

I still think the Saint will be there in Sochi; something will happen (or something will be done) to make room for him. It was a blunder leave Jumbo, Neal and Seguin out.

The US should have found a spot for Jacob Trouba (perhaps someone will get hurt and he will join the team). The 19 year old kid is an amazing hockey player. Trouba is 6-2, 200lbs, can really skate, is very physical and in 34 games this year he has 7 goals and 10 assists and is plus 6 (a useless stat, I know). Did I say he was only 19 years old? He could very well earn a Norris in a couple of years! The ‘Peg always was a lot of fun to watch and now that Kane and B4′s plan worked (getting rid of Noel) the duo are playing again and the team is winning. They beat Anaheim the other day. You have to wonder though how long their enthusiasm will last.

Damn it is fun to watch the Turris line play the game. I am old enough to remember what “Fire Wagon Hockey” meant and how it was played…in a few words, it was fast, furious, UNSTRUCTURED but responsible! Structure is what the military need, it is what wayward kids require and structure is what unskilled hockey players should have. Turris, Mac and Ryan see the ice as a canvas and can paint a different picture every shift. It used to be that way when Spezza had the dreaded Heatley and Annika on his line. I remember some of the great lines of yesteryear and although they lined up at their positions, they could move about whenever the situation called for it as they manufactured opportunities. The Turris line is entertaining indeed.

I see the Sun published yet another Letter to the Editor from yet another Spezza hater. You have to wonder why? This one vilifies the Captain because he said with only 2 on the Team going to the Olympics it would give the remaining players a rest. How dare he?! The author took advantage of the opportunity to call Spezza out for his lack of effort and basically joined the others here calling him brutal, non-existent, slow, awful and now…lazy. Of all the submissions every day, the anit-Spezzite’s seem to always get first dibbs. As I have said often, the media is in a position to forge public opinion (’cause most are incapable of having an opinion on their own). They have been very successful creating a God and a King but their best achievement so far has been their ability to bet the blind lemmings to all hate a player who in any othr City would be celebrated…go figure?

I really hope Murray doesn’t acquire the players Bruce named in his article today (Sens have trade list). Perhaps one or two might help the team in the short term but in all probability the team is going to miss the playoffs anyway, but even if they do, is this they way the team wants to go squeazing into the playoffs everytime? Mouly is a god hockey player but will be gone next year. Callahan is not the same. Hemsky is all world but very rarely shows up. Ruutu is a bum.

  24. Dan the Man says:

I am surprised the Sens are not playing Florida during this road trip. Seems to me the schedule maker was not too switched on to include a game against Florida, considering we will be just up the road plaing Tampa.

If I am a Sens fan, management better decide sooner than later what Lehners role is on this team and what is going to happen down the road. I cannot believe for one second he is a happy camper. Imagine being benched for many games after spinning a shut out while Andy has a few clunkers. When Lehner becomes a UFA, Murray is going to have big problems keeping him from bolting to another team. If Lehner is our goalie of the future, then I suggest the future starts today. Otherwise, in a few years we will likely have goaltending problems.

  25. Mike8888 says:

    Bruce,
Any idea what O’Brien did or say to be scratched for the latter half of last season and to be banished to Bingo this season? I didn’t think he played badly last year and you’d think he’d at least get a look this season.

  26. Bobby Goodman says:

What’s ineresting is, Touba is never brought up in the Rookie of the Year discussion but I’ve heard Seth Jones mentioned often! I don’t know about you guys but I would take Trouba who is far more physical, always engaged and his 7g, 10a and plus 6 anyday over Jones’ 4g and 14a and minus 19. And Trouba hasn’t been in the best environment in the league!!! Even when I saw them in Junior Hockey, Jones seemed to be floating around most of the time where as Trouba was not.

As I said from the get go, Mackinnon will win the Rookie of the Year but Trouba certainly deserves consideration!
