Training camp is now just around the corner.
Was able to get some time off during the summer _ with the exception of the odd Daniel Alfredsson blast.
Was an interesting off-season.
The decision by Alfredsson to leave caught people off guard.
The arrival of Bobby Ryan is something the Senators have been trying to do for the last 14 months.
Changes always happen. That’s the way it goes.
Not sure if everybody will be in camp. Defenceman Jared Cowen hasn’t signed and not sure he will before camp. He is skating in Saskatoon and will remain there until a decision is made on what happens next.
The Senators have tabled four offers to Cowen _ including an eight-year, $28 million deal. He has only played 90 NHL games. He wants $3.5 million per-season but on a shorter term at four years.
I would expect, as a result, he’ll sit. Kind of like we expect that Nazem Kadri will sit in Toronto as well. Young players need to play. We’ll keep an eye on it. I don’t think Cowen should miss camp but it’s the only right he has as a restricted free agent. I don’t see any offer sheets coming.
Okay, I’m back. Let’s get this started.
