The American way

- July 26th, 2012

LONDON – It started as a murmur and slowly grew into a room full of laughter. Even the man behind the comments, American swimmer Michael Phelps, had to chuckle at his comments.

In a packed press conference room at the main press centre here on Thursday afternoon, Phelps was relaxed and at ease talking about his pursuit of adding to his 14 Olympic gold medals. When he was asked about the Australian relay team’s contention that they didn’t fear Phelps and his American teammates, Phelps responded with this:

“We take care of our own business,” Phelps said, looking all serious. “If you get caught up in other people’s talking, and this and that, it just takes away from what we’re here to do.

“We’re here to swim and that’s it. We’re not gonna run our mouths. We never have. Our country has never done that.”

And then the laughter started, Phelps included.

Gotta love the ignorance in this story.
I recently got into a heated debate with an American about about the up coming elections, as they are always posting anti Obama propaganda on their facebook page.
The debate was not all that bad until I actually mentioned I was Canadian and for the most part happy with how parliament is run here and then continued to address that Canada has been doing far better economically then they United States.

I was then responded and sadly awaken to how rude and arrogant Americans can be, By the return reply of ” swearing and saying Canada is a 3rd world country compared to the U.S. so you have no merit in this conversation and then was blocked and deleted.

What I found funny about the whole thing, was the fact I knew more about what was happening in the United States elections and about the current President then they did, heck they did not even know there was 2 major U.S. elections this year.

Now as Canadians lets have the last laugh.
