At the risk of being overtaken by events at any minute, I thought it was time to pen a few words re the Canadian overwhelming medal success to date.
We have garnered one bronze and that was in the well-known synchronized diving event!
We are well on our way to the plus-20 medals the COC had aimed for. Or maybe not.
Just perhaps, we might not even gain the summer high water mark of 18 medals, gathered in Beijing.
In fact, we might completely poop the bed and come in with less than 15 medals.
Not saying that will happen, but a better chance of that than we do of exceeding the stated goal.
Rowing had a good day. But was it good enough? Swimming has been quiet so far. Will track and field exceed our wildest dreams?
And there are not enough quirky new sports for us to show the world what are good at.
OK, that was Vancouver and most Winter Olympics.
There is one “new” sport here and that is women’s boxing. Put us down for a gold or silver there. Or maybe not.
Guess that’s the problem in a nutshell. Too many maybes.
