‘Jurassic Park IV’ gets a release date

- January 11th, 2013

Jurassic Park

Universal Pictures has announced a fourth instalment in its dinosaur franchise will be hitting theatres June 13, 2014.

The film will be produced by Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two films, and will be shot in 3-D.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the new film has been written by Rise of the Planet of the Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. An earlier script, penned by William Monahan and John Sayles, had been called a “bug—- crazy franchise sequel” when it was reviewed by Ain’t it Cool in 2007.

A director for Jurassic Park 4 has yet to be named (Joe Johnston helmed No. 3), but it’s unlikely to be Spielberg – he’s tied up with Robopocalypse, which may or may not still be happening (reports earlier this week indicate that his adaptation of Daniel H. Wilson’s sci-fi book have been shelved).

The original Jurassic Park will be re-released in 3-D on April 5.
