"If you’ve read the books, you already know that Craig’s journalist character Mikael Blomkvist is not the focal point of The Girl Who Played With Fire or The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest."

That is not even true. He's in the second two books just as much as Salander.

It’s all nonsense, really. How do they, Daniel and Rooney, start the negotiations though they say they know nothing about the sequel? Sony did first strike against the lead actor because they didn't want to pay him more?! It sounds like a diversionary attack. How stupid! Sony, if you REALLY want to make the 'awesome' sequel, don't yelling. Just make it. Pay him.

Of course! You must know it needs Mikael if you really read the books. I loved the first of Swedish version and I loved Noomi Rapace, but the second/third one are Meh.. So I expect the next film of the American version. As for Craig, his rep denied the rumor -- negotiations have yet to commence. Craig/Mara don't even know whether shooting on the film is made, and when it starts shooting. I heard Fincher and Zaillian planned to bring Mikael to central part, and wanted more of Mikael and Lisbeth together in the sequels and so were going to deviate more from the books to achieve that. Craig and Mara have great chemistry, so I'd never see the sequels if the studio dumped him. (Honestly, Daniel Craig was the only one reason why I saw the American one.)

The American version of Dragon Tattoo stunk. The books were great. The Swedish version of the movies were decent. But the one with Daniel Craig....ugh, not even worth watching on free TV.
