First image of Ben Affleck as Batman from ‘Batman vs. Superman’

- May 13th, 2014

UPDATED – Zack Snyder has shared the first photo of Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight in Batman vs. Superman. And let me just say, haters ain’t gonna hate anymore. The costume looks super cool.

From what we can tell, it’s considerably different from the outfit Christian Bale worn in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, which, let’s face it, was to be expected. The emblem, for one, looks bigger, and Batfleck’s sporting some serious muscles.

It looks like now might be a good time to start following Mr. Snyder on Twitter.

Now that we’re (almost) done with the casting news on Batman vs. Superman (or Superman vs. Batman or Batman/Superman), we’re getting our first look at some of the toys on Zack Snyder’s upcoming Man of Steel sequel.

The director tweeted the first image from the set of the film showing the Batmobile covered by a tarp. He promised a full reveal later today.

It doesn’t appear to be a completely new concept, then again how much tinkering did you expect? I’m more curious to see what Snyder does with Ben Affleck’s Batman costume. Friends of the actor that have seen the design have raved about it. Earlier this year wife Jennifer Garner said: “I’ve seen the suit… the suit is unbelievably cool. It’s a total reinvention, it looks great.”

Snyder will shoot his Man of Steel sequel and Justice League back to back in Detroit this year. So far, other than Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. is staying quiet on what other heroes may be inserted into its version of Marvel’s Avengers.

Batman vs. Superman opens on May 6, 2016.
