‘Godzilla’ footage of first fight

- May 3rd, 2014

How can you go wrong with a giant reptile fighting a giant bird?

Answer: You can’t.

Bloody Disgusting posted the newest Godzilla clip Saturday, in which Dr. Ichiro Serizawa (Ken Watanabe) can be seen talking to a military general, overlooking a clouded overcast bay.

The military general asks Dr. Serizawa if the mechanical giant he’s created to take down the hulking dinosaur looking creature will be able to stand its wrath.

“The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in their control, and not the other way around,” Serizawa says to the sound of Godzilla’s ominous score. “Let them fight.”

Here’s where the goods come in.

It’s the first time we’ve really been able to see the scale of Godzilla and the mechanized monsters set out to take him down.

The pterodactyl looking machine, MUTO (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism) swoops into the metropolitan landscape and quickly draws the attention of the radioactive monster away from the innocent citizens madly dashing around on the streets below.

From what I can gather, this is one of the less intense fights, too, which says a lot for Gareth Edwards’ highly anticipated monster revival.

Godzilla stars Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, and Aaron-Taylor Johnson and will be released in theaters world wide May 16.
