‘Gremlins’ reboot in the works?

You know you’re old when remakes of films that came out in the ’80s become a yearly occurrence.

Well, following reboots of childhood favourites like Total Recall, Fright Night, Robocop (due next year), Predator and Halloween, among others, Vulture is now reporting that Warner Bros. is looking to bring back 1984′s Gremlins.

The little monsters also appeared in a 1990 sequel with news of a rumoured third film becoming a myth of Goonies 2 proportions. Steven Spielberg produced the originals and would most likely produce the updated version.

No word on whether original director Joe Dante or stars Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates would return for cameos.

What do you think about Gremlins getting rebooted? Should they do it, or just leave the originals (which were great by the way) alone?

Let us know in the comments.

if they do a reboot, it oughta be christopher nolan style… no kids, darker themes. it can’t be all cutesy. i’m thinking apocalypse. gremlin population comes out of nowhere and suddenly overwhelms like a pandemic. could be cool.

I would go see anything Spielberg produces…..The man is a genious!!!

Think of the CGI they could inject….no more 80′s pneumatic robotic jerking, lurching.

Would definitely love to see this happen, but I have to agree…go more for attitude instead of trying to appeal to the younger market. When “it” really hits the fan, people would be swearing their faces off. Git ‘er done!

No way should they remake Gremlins. I remember seeing this movie with my dad and my brothers in the theatres, and it still remains one of my faves.

If they do end up remaking it though, see if Corey Feldman is interested…he could use the money.
