Kelly Clarkson, Paris Hilton and Adam Sandler top IMDb’s ’10 Worst Movies Of All Time’ list

Best-of lists are a dime a dozen and, let’s face it, usually lead to arguments between friends.

So the fine folks over at IMDb decided to poll users on their least favourite films of all time (no fights there, right?), and both Kelly Clarkson and Paris Hilton aren’t going to like the news. Come to think of it, Adam Sandler might not like it either.

From Justin to Kelly, the musical rom-com Clarkson shot after winning the first season of American Idol, was ranked as the ninth worst movie on IMDb’s Bottom 100, while Hilton’s The Hottie & the Nottie and Pledge This! took second and fifth place respectively.

Big name flops like Batman & Robin and Ishtar are left off this list. So the chances that you’ve heard, or seen, any of Bottom 10 are minimal. And if you have watched any of these, by all means let us know what you thought of them in the comments.

All taglines come from the IMDb pages for the films.

10. Going Overboard, 1989: “A struggling young comedian takes a menial job on a cruise ship where he hopes for his big chance to make it in the world of cruise ship comedy.”

No matter how much you like Adam Sandler (and I love him), this just looks wretched.

9. From Justin to Kelly, 2003: “A waitress from Texas and a college student from Pennsylvania meet during spring break in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and come together through their shared love on singing.”

While Kelly Clarkson walked away from this debacle relatively unscathed, co-star, and American Idol runner-up, Justin Guarini vanished into obscurity. The film was designed to capitalize on the popularity of the reality show, but was a dismal failure earning less than $5 million at the box office. From Justin to Kelly took home the Governor’s Award for ‘Distinguished Under-Achievement in Choreography’ at the 2004 Razzie Awards.

8. Anne B. Real, 2003: “ANNE B. REAL is the coming of age story of a young female rapper, who finds her inspiration by reading the Diary of Anne Frank.”

Kinda puzzled how this one made the list. No stars, pitiful story. How did it even rate?

7. Birdemic: Shock and Terror, 2010: “A platoon of eagles and vultures attacks the residents of a small town. Many people die. It’s not known what caused the flying menace to attack. Two people manage to fight back, but will they survive Birdemic?”

Advertised as coming to us from ‘Visionary’ writer/director James Nguyen. This must be IMDb users’ idea of a joke. Terrible filmmaking at its best.

6. Die Hard Dracula, 1998: “A modern-day updating of the Dracula legend that finds Steven, a good-looking American hero devastated by the death of his girlfriend, wandering through Europe and looking for happiness.”

John McClane should sue for copyright infringement.

5. Pledge This!, 2006: “At South Beach University, a beautiful sorority president takes in a group of unconventional freshman girls seeking acceptance into her house.”

It’s funny to think that at one point some Hollywood exec thought that socialite Paris Hilton had a career in movies.

4. Manos: The Hands of Fate, 1966: “A family gets lost on the road and stumbles upon a hidden, underground, devil-worshiping cult led by the fearsome Master and his servant Torgo.”

As one IMDb user put it: “In the end I can not advise against this strongly enough. This is for the sadist in you. Any other part of your person can only feel pained or offended by such extreme trash!”

3. Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, 2004: “A group of smart-talking toddlers find themselves at the center of a media mogul’s experiment to crack the code to baby talk. The toddlers must race against time for the sake of babies everywhere.”

It’s kinda sad when you consider that this was directed by Bob Clark – the same guy who did A Christmas Story and Porky’s. Jon Voight should have his SAG card revoked.

2. The Hottie & the Nottie, 2008: “Nate moves to L.A. to track down Cristabel, the woman he’s been in love with since childhood, only to discover that his plan to woo her only has one hurdle to overcome: what to do with June, Cristabel’s ever-present, not-so-hot best friend? What’s even more complicating is Nate’s growing feelings for June, whose true beauty starts to emerge.”

After grossing a paltry $28,000, this pretty much ended Paris Hilton’s Hollywood ambitions.

1. Disaster Movie
, 2008: “Over the course of one evening, an unsuspecting group of twenty-somethings find themselves bombarded by a series of natural disasters and catastrophic events.”

A parody from two of the writers from the Scary Movie franchise and it co-stars Kim Kardashian and Carmen Electra. With all that talent, I can’t see why this landed in first place.

Another list that reflects the median age of IMDB users.

Robert has an excellent point. There are ‘gajillions’ (I finally found a good excuse to say that!) of horrible movies that were made long before there was any such thing as IMDB, much less an Internet.

I can think of two right offhand:

    - Plan 9 from Outer Space (horrible special effects)

    - Succubus (one of William Shatner’s first movies – dialogue is in Esperanto with English subtitles, yes Esperanto! I’ll venture most of the Millenials on IMDB have never even heard of Esperanto)

    - Heaven’s Gate (never seen it, so I’m going with the flow here :-) )

    - Waterworld (bizarre premise)

    - The Day After Tomorrow (ditto)

Mark, as for Batman & Robin, I think you’re reaching. It was pretty bad, but not in a particularly epic way.

Disaster Movie was a parody and intentionaly bad. But it is NOT the worst movie (even on this list).

Check out Thankskilling or any of the Mega shark/crocodile/octopus series for time and money wasted.
