The new Spider-Man movie will feature three villains – Electro, Rhino and the Green Goblin – so what’s another baddie thrown into the mix?
Director Marc Webb may have spilled the beans about a fourth villain after he tweeted the name of the character B.J. Novak (The Office) is playing. Up to now, Novak’s purpose in the upcoming sequel was unknown.

From that tweet we can surmise that Novak will be playing Alistair Smythe who, in the comics, creates Spider Slayer robots programmed to kill Spider-Man.
Of course, Smythe’s Spider Slayers may not appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but it’s looking like a safe bet that the character might be getting warmed up for Sony’s upcoming Sinister Six villain spinoff.
Two new trailers for the film were unveiled Sunday night, that shed some light on the relationship between Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). The new spots also show off plenty of action, and give us fresh looks at Rhino (Paul Giamatti), Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper) and Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan).
Novak is set to release a debut collection of short stories, One More Thing, this week.
