Zack Snyder tweets new Batman photo

- July 24th, 2014

If Zak Snyder posts a photo on Twitter, and no one notices it within the first five minutes, was it really ever posted at all?

On Thursday, Snyder posted a close up side profile shot of Ben Affleck in the new Batman costume. While the shot is undoubtedly cool, and very modern in comparison to Nolan’s Miller-esque Batman style, the bigger news is that it took outlets twenty minutes to discover it.

That’s pretty alarming. But don’t worry, I’ll stick to the Batman photo.

Let’s examine this close up of Affleck, shall we?

He’s brooding, as Batman does, but does he ever look like he was ripped directly from the pages of a Jim Aparo book.

Affleck’s jaw is clenched, and he’s rocking the heavy stubble look that reminds me of the battered down Bruce Wayne in the ’93 Knightfall series.

Like Snyder’s previously released photo of Batman, it’s obvious he’s setting up the mood for the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film. Expect dark, emotionally driven performances between DC’s most powerful superheroes (even though Batman is technically a vigilante), and a massive fight between the two at some point as well.

Even sweeter, the Batman photo comes just one day after Snyder tweeted this shot of Superman actor Henry Cavill dressed in Jedi garb.

jedi-cavillIs Snyder hyping up is film? Clearly.

What can we say, though? It’s working.

Whether or not Snyder can actually produce a top notch quality film (we’ll save the debate on whether Man of Steel was great or not for the comment section), we’ll just have to wait and see.
