S’all good, man. When the final episode of Breaking Bad airs September 30, there’s at least one character we won’t have to say goodbye to just yet.
According to multiple online reports, AMC has greenlit Better Call Saul, a Breaking Bad spinoff featuring Walter White’s sleazy and hilarious lawyer Saul Goodman, played by Bob Odenkirk.
The spinoff has been rumoured for some time, and even BB creator Vince Gilligan has been a fan of giving Goodman his own show.
Here’s what Gilligan said in a July 2012 interview:
“I like the idea of a lawyer show in which the main lawyer will do anything it takes to stay out of a court of law. He’ll settle on the courthouse steps, whatever it takes to stay out of the courtroom. That would be fun — I would like that.”
Here’s where it gets really interesting:
The series is rumoured to be a prequel to Breaking Bad and will follow Goodman’s character before he ever met the meth-cooking high school chemistry teacher.
Does this mean we could see the return of fan favourites like, say, trusty clean-up guy Mike Ehrmantraut who was killed off last season? That’s the great thing about prequels – writers can bring the dead back to life.
