Not a technical issue - rather a Tiger Woods issue. Apparently insiders revealed his golf game was priority and some stations would not tune into SAG Awards because TW is more important. Blame it on the rain.

If it had really been a technical issue, there would have been a crawl at the bottom of the screen with an apology saying exactly that. By showing two other shows with no comment whatsoever, it's obvious they left someone in charge who had no idea what they were doing and no one at Global was watching.

This kind of thing happens all the time, disrupting all manner of programming -- usually at the beginning or end of a timeslot. It is usually because the Canadian feed replaces the feed on American channels. I understand the need to maximize ad revenue, and so the principle does not offend me. (I do regret losing American Super Bowl commercials, but for 364 days of the year it usually means only watching a Tim Hortons' ad instead of Dunkin' Donuts.) In practice, though, it should be done more professionally. Is it done automatically? Is anyone actually watching what is being broadcast? I am glad that social media provides an outlet to complain about this: it's not like you could call your local cable provider to point out the problem.

Wow, I can't believe people actually DO care about television that much. They should probably get out more. :; )
