Christmas has come early for Sherlock fans.
The BBC and Steven Moffat have released a seven minute video that bridges the gap between Sherlock’s death in the finale of season two and the upcoming third season.
In the video, fans are given a small overview of what Sherlock has been up to since his faked death. From Tibet to Brussels, the master of deduction and observation has slowly been making his way back to London. At this point, it’s safe to assume he’s more interested in making his way back to 221 Baker Street than he is in the city itself.
Moffat and his writing team, like usual, also implemented some heart tugging scenes between John and a recorded Sherlock.
At one point, the video of Sherlock asks Inspector LeStrade who’s filming what he should do, in regards to missing John’s birthday.
“I’ll tell you what you can do. Stop being dead,” John mutters, before the recorded Sherlock answers with an, “okay.”
Between the anticipation of the two meeting again after such a dramatic exit and the uplifting, slightly nostalgic score, this seven minute mini should be able to hold over fans for the next couple of weeks.
The third season airs on January 1st in the U.K. and in North America January 19th.
