Hurrah for North Bay

- January 2nd, 2013

All systems are go for the City of North Bay and the North Bay Trappers of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League to play host to the 2013 Dudley Hewitt Cup, Central Canada Championships as planned.

(The DHC rotates every year between host sites in the NOJHL, the Superior International Jr. Hockey League and the Ontario Jr. Hockey League. It features the champions of the three leagues and the host entry. If the host team and league champion are one and the same, the playoff runner-up from the host league gets entry into the DHC to round out the four-team format.)

North Bay was tapped as the NOJHL’s host entry for the 2013 DHC last summer. But doubt then ensued as to whether the Trappers would actually host the mid-April event at Memorial Gardens since the facility is scheduled to undergo major renovations as part of the recent deal that was reached which relocates the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League to North Bay in time for the 2013-2014 season.

However, it has now been learned that holding the 2013 DHC at Memorial Gardens in North Bay will go ahead as planned.

As such, sources have confirmed that:

* City of North Bay has given the Trappers and Memorial Gardens management the go-ahead to work together on the DHC.

* City of North Bay has allowed all DHC advertising and marketing to be publicly dispersed.

* City of North Bay is selling DHC tickets out of Memorial Gardens box office.

* A City of North Bay representative has met with Trappers ownership, shook hands and agreed that the DHC is going ahead as scheduled at Memorial Gardens.

Thank goodness for this News. Having the Dudley at West Ferris just would not have worked. Another scoop by RR!

  2. Espanola Eagle says:

Now that this is finalised lets hope that the Commish and Mr. Clayten gets rolling on getting a deal done to put a team in Espanola. Many fans in Espy are getting pumped about the NOJHA comming to town and will by Season Tickets to show there faith. I hope that the NOJHA Brass knows this as we would rather have the NOJHA than the Outlaw League that is for sure.

  3. Fanman says:

Wasn’t the 2013 Dudley originally awarded to Sudbury?

  4. Bayer says:

yes it was sudburys originally and awarded to the previous owner bill scott, but with a new owner coming in spending cash to buy the team and new equipment needed it probably wasnt in his best interests to put up more money for that in the first year to host the dudley as the host team pays the full shot for everyone.

  5. LeJib says:

Thanks for the confirmation, RR. To the best of my knowledge, this reassurance has not yet appeared in the local media. Trust you for news when needed!
Now we can rest easy, and look forward to a very competitive second half of this NOJHL season. Continuing improvements in several teams give promise of some close and exciting hockey between now and the end of April. Then, the DHC!
Note to Fanman – I understand the DHC was initially awarded to Suds, but ‘management difficulties’ (whatever that means)made it unworkable. Thus North Bay picked it up.

  7. Goerge Mcfly says:

therrien to nepeon . great move great team. great league.good luck in your new adventure

  8. Fanman says:

This will be the second time in 9 years that North Bay has hosted the Dudley. Not many towns get to host an event like this once never mind twice. The past experience will make this years event a success I’m sure.

  9. hockeyguy 02 says:

trappers sign Beau Orser, a “d”man out of the BCHL. played for coach McCarthy in huntsville a few years back.

  10. eskisfan says:

    Nepean deal fell through

  11. Eski01 says:

Mcfly, it a great move for who? Maybe you should encourage you “clients” that walking out when things are not perfect may not be the best lesson! Once hockey is done and real life starts you just can’t walk off. You should prepare your clients for life after hockey, they are not all going to the NHL!

  12. Stix601 says:

Don’t tell me – McFly has posted inaccurate information?

  13. eski01 says:

Desrosier also gone from the eskis I guess? He’s been removed from their roster. Who’s next?
How does this work when a player leaves, does the team still retain the playing rights for that player?

  14. Goerge Mcfly says:

nepeon deal is good. and he walked on is own. and from what I hear more to come. I can’t baby sit every kid out there. when they call me and say I left the team . what am I suppose to tell them no go back.no kida leaving on any other team. could there be. a problem . ask yourself that qurstion instead of pointing fingers.

  15. Goerge Mcfly says:

team still rwtains rights. 2options if he don’t get move in the next 7 days . a non sanctionleague or pro.

  16. Goerge Mcfly says:

stix601 if yoy don’t like all the love I spread. just don’t read my post hehe. cause they make u mad cause its facts and the truth.don’t want your blood pressure to go to high.

  17. Tommy Hawk says:

Here’s a thought to ponder, if one were to put all of Goerge Mcfly’s clients playing in the NOJHL today, my guess is one would have 1st or 2nd place and no lower than a 3rd place team playing in the NOJHL …. sure seemed warm and fuzzy in the Igloo for Goerge early in the year when he was sending all his players to the Eskies and now that the wheels are seemingly falling off it’s easy to point fingers at McFly ……. he who points fingers has 3 pointing back…. no mirrors north of the Gateway City I guess, enuf already on blaming the demise of the Eskis on Goerge, look in the mirror

  18. Randy Russon says:

Last Registered Team: Campbellton Tigers, Maritime Hockey League

  19. Blue Liner says:

You know, I don’t know who “Goerge Mcfly” is, ( I’m guessing that should read “George”) but so far his information has been pretty accurate, even though he has a hard time spelling it.

You do have to ask yourself, though, “what is going on” here. Especially at this time of the year. And by that I mean a player, if not traded, could find himself standing outside in the cold. (Jan.10, deadline)

  20. coffeemate says:

Since started attending this blog, a few things appear consistent.

The following are perceptions only, based upon posts on this blog, since no one really seems to know this person beyond this social media locale:

Goerge McFly (“GM”) ‘s manure doesn’t smell.
and apparently neither does that of his “clients”.

If there’s conflict somewhere between a player and a club, it’s the club’s fault with wild unsubstantiated accusations. Seems a player’s word is taken without questions and his host club is guilty without question. Apparently, a player isn’t capable of a lie, or an exaggeration.

    GM is never wrong.
The rest of the blog of dissenting opinion are accused of or treated as ill-informed, having faulty logic based on misinformation, or being just plain stupid. GM is always right. his manure is odorless.

    Professionalism and ethics:
We are all entitled to our opinions.
however, in years of reading blogs popular within our league is there any recollection of ANYONE claiming professional affiliation within a club, or in some other “official” capacity, in hockey who has shamelessly opinionated himself as openly as GM? Probably not. Perhaps that GM SHOULD realize that discretion IS the better part of valor.

Why is this person, apparently with certain (unsubstantiated or qualified) credentials, feeling so taken to honor himself at the expense of others?

If discretion is the better part of valor, GM has no such scruple(s).
Discretion, confidentiality, any allusion to professional conduct or even common courtesy, be damned.

And the constant claims that what GM does are always in the best interests of players are wearing thin.
Perception is, of a self-serving, overly proud individual with a mean control streak, thinly veiled as being a player’s “best friend”.

And even if he, or she, has some valid points or observations, the extreme prejudice being exhibited by this individual nullifies those observations.

And in as far as anyone not pleased with GM’s services, of course there are some out there. Perhaps several. But to start implicating such individuals by name is moot and unnecessary in the court of public opinion. They don’t want to be bothered participating in a blog pillow fight and in digging up old skeletons. The end result may leave all involved battered, bruised, and unsatisfied. But to assume that there arent any who are not pleased, is like claiming the earth is square.

    Enough is enough.

  21. Goerge Mcfly says:

Coffeemate- If you follow blogs , you will notice it’s always players from the same team complaining and not being happy ,i will back every client that i have (840). i will go to war for them, that’s my job. did u hear me complain or get complains from any other teams in the league . no because they take care of the players and put them in good situation. if they have problem with players they sit down with them and look at the situation. they dont just brush it off to another day and be ippocrites about it. and your right i am never wrong . cause kids from 16 to 20 need guidance and when u sign them (its your job as a team to look out for them , school food billets etc ,i dont care if there bad ass , u signed him discipline them dont turn your head when theres a problem cause that’s when i come in and take charge of situation , i will help kid if he says he dont want to be in a party house ,or no food in the fridge or is roomy smokes up every day if coach thinks its funny , i dont, cause parents trust me to look out for there kids ,if coach or gm wont step up and help . i will thats why i am always right , i will never never take a kids side for on ice , that’s not my job , if the kid get’s bench , that means the kid needs to work harder and the coach is doing is job , im only off-ice . so have a great day coffeemate.

  22. Crazy "Goerge" says:

    Actually,

You do get involved with issues pertaining to ice time, I know from experience.

I know who this guy is….

He called me an “ippocrite” in an e-mail, and I could only assume he meant to say hypocrite.

Either learn how to spell or invest some of that big agent cash flow into a decent spell check software so that your clients will at least perceive you as being literate, Mr. Marcel Audet – oops, I mean – Goerge McFly.

    Karma’s a Mother F

    Later boob

  23. LeJib says:

Hey ‘coffeemate’ – read your thoughtful and well-written post. Also read the expected response. I don’t know (or care to) any of the parties involved, and won’t take sides in the issue, but from a casual observer’s viewpoint, I think your case has been pretty much proven.
And yes, enough is enough. Happy hockey everyone!

  24. Dave Williams says:

The Soo Thunderbirds beat Fort Francis 7-1. A huge win for the NOJHL.

  25. Goerge Mcfly says:

kevin (shrek) want a be advisor . u invested in software. but u have no cluee about hockey or in the last 3 years 25 clients that are all related to you or from tokyo .

  26. eskisfan says:

Well that (coffemate’s post) was One of the best posts ive ever read on here!

Enough if enough is right but i need just to chime in one last time! McFly has been attacking and knifing the eskis for the past 3 months and he finally broke desrosier leaving one “client” left in IF, i use client loosely since if you ever played hockey and spoke to mcfly, or even asked for directions to the washroom, then your his client!

If your read this thing for any period of time, you know he’s full of it! Going back a few years he was subject to the same type of garbage on RR’s rambles! I’ve grown tired of correcting him and i guess no one knows or cares enuf to do the same, another prime example is how he talks about eddy davey! Not a client and did not get him here or his scholarship! Right from eddy’s mouth during the alumni weekend! But by reading george’s comments ud never know better! He repeatedly throws that crap out the in hopes no one will question it! George does have contacts though and when teams dont have a place to send a player who doesnt cut it, they call george and george tries to find t kid a team and the player becomes a client, usually marginal players. Mungioli, desforges, shwer, ET! Some good ones like ppr.

This year george Claimed RT and SD and made it sound like he got them here! Not the case but he was successful in convincing a 20 year old with 1goal in his first year in the CJHL that he warranted to be on the PP at all times and to lay that ultimatum on the team and to go home if he didnt get his way! Tooo bad, simon was a god kid! RT was here for YEARS before george came around and it was gagne who found him a good team in nepean not george!

Point is george has had a vendetta against the eskis since it didnt work out with his kid and that is the bottom line! The mans worked very hard to discredit the Org and hard work of many voluntees here but the only players that have left are his, most were released by the club with the exception of jesseau and desrosier! Again it should be noted that no one other than his “clients” have left! PPR is all that is left here! Good kid and although he is telling his teamates he likes it here and has plans to be back next year, we know george has been in his ear every night to change that!

Although the Eskis were warned about George, they failed to truly acknowledge what damage could be done! when you handle a snake, you should hold it by the head, if you try and hold it by the tail and think you have control, you are sure to get bit! Kids just remember that this individual has zero creditials in the way of being a certified agent let alone education! Anyone can claim to be just what this fellow is and you need to make sure your agenda goes before his!

  28. eskimos says:

    well said eskis fan,
as for his kids and billet’s home , they are not babysitter the kids and some men are staying in someone’s home and should treat it as such “you are a guest”
I know over the years some kids and billeting home still stay in touch through facebook and twitter but they were a few that turn billet home into they own palace and the home refuse kids afterward .
all the kids sign a contract when they come to IF and ya you can’t be always watching them and yes some will party it up and some think there shit don’t stink and own the town .
Mcfly’s own kids had parents wanted to string him up because of thing going on in the school, asking for ‘favors’ from girls because he was an eskimo the other was thrown out of 3 billets home because of his attitude.
when young mcfly first came here the was nothing better than the eskis now it is the worse place to play hockey.
I have heard that other places the players have to pay to play , no billeting, here everything is paid, may not be enough for billet home but they do it because they love hockey and the kids.
as for mcfly , no credential, no paperwork, no money I hope for service rendered.
    as BS er that all.

  29. Goerge Mcfly says:

Eskisfan- another lie wow , eskie think im attaquing them wow , run a good program and it wont happen , all you eskies fan are the same point fingers , when someone else does bad you sure attaque them (last year soo ) good exemple. why dont u talk to therrien ,i braught him to k&a then team folded , i set him up with north bay but coach wanted dionne instead , so i sent him to eskies ,yes i set him up with eskies. all this year at games i was working with him for schools. when my son left i told him that i would meet with him in march to see where we stand , i never talk to him since the start of november , he ask for a trade then we talk dec 29 , for me to help him with which team he should go too , we talk nepeon , nb daulphin , humboltd , lots of teams where interested in him. he decided to go with nepeon for family and friends in ottawa.and yes i talk to all teams , north bay was a great fit also , but i dont decide for kids i open doors then they decide.mongolia i told him i wanted nothing to do with him for off-ice reason. 3 days into being a eskies , so i have nothing to do with him leaving. simon texted me a few days ago to help him find a new team cause he told me he walked off the team because of too many bad things, ppr will stay in eskies cause i add a good talk with him. dont know about next year .jesseau wanted nothing to do with eskies ( case close)he might of moved from team to team but when your uninform u say all kinds of stuff , he was liked every where he go , but injuries force him to take lots of time off. davey i did not get him to eskies , but he came to me for a advisor and yes i got him a scholarship , he worked for it.he made it easy cause he was a good kid and a very good goalie.etienne roy is in the ajhl now with drummonheller.desforge is in st-malo playing for keystone cup. so eskiesfan like i said in older post stop talking out of your A$$ ;) have a good day.

    ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  31. hockeyjockey says:

    Goerge McFly:
You must have had the same English teacher as Peachy HAHA
Rumours are that you are trying to get your buddy “Swazz” to replace Paul in IF. Any truth to that….

  32. Stix601 says:

A new found respect for Peachy.

McFly – you’re a detriment to any player you are associated with.

Any parent that knowingly lets their kid associate with a guy like this should look for better guidance, and i’m sure there are a few parents who are not aware of the company their kids are keeping.

I’ve followed this organization for many years, and I’ve had a few sodas with many former players – and have hired some of them. There is a common theme from them all – they were treated fairly and enjoyed their time playing in the organization. I’ve seen work ethic and tenacity from many of them – the exact opposite of what they are being persuaded to do from the illiterate of the North. When the going gets tough, just pull the pin – this does not work in real life.

Obviously there are some sour grapes on McFly’s part – and the point that was made about the Eskis being the best thing since sliced bread while his son was there is accurate (yellow equipment?). With that being said – at this level you do not call the GM when your son gets yanked from a game and cry about it. The accusations that he makes are damaging and borderline slanderous (you’ll definitely need the dictionary for that one “Goerge”). Sure – he sits back and defends anyone associated with him without any facts – very easy to do.

Mention his name to any reputable hockey person and see the look you get – it’s laughable (or maybe sad).

Quickly – why does one go to the USA for his minor midget year? No need to answer, as we all know the reason for that one.

Best wishes to all for a happy new year!

  33. eskisfan says:

George i never heard bout that regarding therrien! Ill give the benefitbof the doubt! I dont blame you for Therrien wanting out, its his last year, great player and deserves this in his last year!

Glad to hear what u said about mung, at least you’re remaining consistent about problems you dont condone! good for you, mean that!

I said u have contacts, never questioned that! As for the other players, nothing against, just think the ones that came her then didnt stick in KL were marginal, glad they are playing, good for you finding them a place. I hope SD or you can find him a place too! Reason for leaving? during my discussions with him, his frustrations came to only one issue, ice!

Jesseau? agree to disagree! dont want to bash! Good player tho!

Soo? anyone who read this thing last year knows i thought the soo didnt deserve the treatment they received! i still stand by that! i thought it was an overblown distraction at an inopportune time that casted a dark shadow on spectacular season and beautiful memories.
As for talking out my ass, ill give on the therrien subject, but rest can be taken to the bank!

  36. Goerge Mcfly says:

has u can see only abitibi peoplr whinning. why don’t you call paul if I ever even ask about my son after a game . . instead of lying out of your ass again to try to make yourself look good. anyonr that knows me knows why I sent my kid to colorado. it was to be coach by a friend of mine that wanted him that played in the nhl.
who would not do this for is kid. oh you that’s right cause u can’t afford it.I will be done when you guys can accept that your all a bunch of loosers that can’t accept the facts. just from this blog I got like 14 phone calls thanking me for the info and for taking care of there sons future. thanks for promoting. but I say no to clients now just to many of them. when they hit bad organisation like yours its too much work.headache.too much whinning amd not enouph winning.hahahahahaha

  37. eskisfan says:

Not a bad effort tonite by the eskimos considering the short bench! Reffing was ridiculous all night both ways! First half the game the eskis got nailed for everything and then the beavers couldnt touch a player or open his mouth! Beavers have some nice players and good speed! Their new tender was very impressive and made quality saves early! Beavers are going to give a good series to either kl or suds in the playoffs.

Looks like Jesseau will take a seat for a few! Tough penalty to swallow, especially at that time of the game!

I’m sure the coaching staff were pleased as well.
Hope the streak continues on Friday night against the Bobcats.

I’m sure that after loosing all 3 of their showcase games Ryan will be on them this week.
Beaver fans come out to Elliot Lake on Friday night and support our team

Tyler has his good and bad games as all players do.
He seemed in a slump for a while but seems to have
got that monkey off his back now and is concentrating
on his game again. Not afraid to get banged up out there
    and can give it back
Has really good hands and player skills,
Really a great all round young man, if he stays focused he will excel to the next level

    JOEL VIENNEAU TRADED

Former Abitibi Eskimos goalie Joel Vienneau is part of a multi-player, Ontario Hockey League trade between the Sudbury Wolves and Kitchener Rangers that was finalized this morning. As part of the deal, the 1992 birth year Vienneau goes from Sudbury to Kitchener.

  48. kong says:

Great move for Joel, Rangers are gearing up for the play-offs. Nice to see Joel back in I.F.s for the Alumni Game. Over 40 X Eskis game back for the game. Not bad for a organization that runs a poor program according to a certain person.

  49. ABITIBIAN says:

    LeJib -
Work has been keeping me busy but always faithfull to this blog.
Your invitation is very enticing not only for the cold one but I would really like to catch the big show next year at the Gardens. Most likely vs the Wolves or Kingston so we could catch some homegrown products on ice at the same time.
Always good to converse with level headed people , will definitely take you up on that offer.
Here is to the good hockey people of N-Bay , hoping you do find long time success at the Gardens….CHEERS !!

  50. Cubs Fan says:

just wondering what teams will be making moves by trade deadline day ? Traps ? Miners ? T-Birds ? what do you guys think ? I see the Eskis traded one the best players in the league and there captain wow ! big move did the other player in the deal report to the Falls ?

  51. Trapperfan says:

Swazz to I.Fs?…..really?……I think he would have a tough time getting through the interview process…mediocre coach at best….. if Gagne is to be replaced I definetly don’t think Swazzy will be the one. That is laughable…hahahahahahahahaha (sorry Peachey, just had to borrow a quote from you)

  52. Sec2RowP says:

To throw such a faceless attack at a man and involve his family is absolutely sickening.
Are we really suppose to believe that the exodus and the issues in IF are all George’s fault. Haven’t heard of any problem with him in KL at all.

    This has gotten just sad.

  59. eskisfan says:

Minersfan if anyone wanted throw that type of stone from IF, it would of happened by now! I will agree with, that was a cheapie!

I dont know who this “crazy george” is but mc fly does. I dont think he’s from iroquois falls.

Last time you spoke here (dec 7th)you told me i didnt make sense and you were served crow by a few people for not doing your homework ! I think your shooting in the wrong direction yet again! Weak effort minersfan, dont be bitter, just be better!
