TFC ACQUIRES AMARIKWA

- July 21st, 2012

Toronto FC announced Saturday that the club has acquired forward Quincy Amarikwa in a trade with the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a conditional draft pick.

“With the injury to Danny Koevermans there became an immediate need to add some additional help up top and we feel Quincy will address this area,” said Paul Mariner. “Quincy is a hard worker, with great athletic abilities and a positive attitude. That’s what we look for in all our players. We feel he will fit in with our club nicely.”

Amarikwa, 24, was recently claimed by the New York Red Bulls after being waived by the Colorado Rapids where he spent the past two seasons. In 31 league appearances with the Rapids, Amarikwa scored three goals. He was a member of the Rapids’ 2010 MLS Cup Championship squad.
