In her 60 years on the throne, four effigies of Queen Elizabeth II have appeared on Canadian coins.
1953 – the first was drawn by Mary Gillick
1965 – Arnold Machin created a portrait of the Queen wearing a jewel-studded tiara
1990 – Dora de Pedery Hunt of Toronto was commissioned to paint the first effigy of a reigning monarch by a Canadian artist.
2003 – Vancouver, B.C. artist Susanna Blunt created the current effigy.
