The royal tour by Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, has kicked off.
Their seven-day tour started Tuesday in Ottawa. They’ll also visit the Ontario communities of Trenton, Toronto, Hamilton, St. Catharines and Midland. They’ll be heading to Iqaluit, Nunavut, on Thursday.

On Friday, the Earl and Countess of Wessex will attend a reception for the Toronto International Film Festival, watch the movie Rebelle and present a Diamond Jubilee Medal.
On Saturday, they will join Lietenant Governor of Ontario David C. Onley and his wife in Queenston, Hamilton, Niagara-on-the-Lake and St. Catharines with stops at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and Niagara College.
On Sunday, they’re off to chuch in Penetanguishene, then visiting Midland.
On Monday, they’re back in Toronto to tour Roots of Empathy and attend a Duke of Edinburgh award ceremony.
