This is one way to avoid the paparazzi after your game of naked pool goes viral.

Prince Harry has returned to Afghanistan, the British Army said Friday.

Captain Wales arrived at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province where he will start a four-month tour as an Apache pilot.

The military said Harry’s squadron will provide surveillance, deterrence and, when required, close combat attack capabilities as well as escort duties for other aircraft.

“Captain Wales is a serving soldier and a qualified Apache Pilot having completed the Apache Conversion to Role (CTR) course earlier this year. As such, and after further flying experience, he has deployed along with the rest of the squadron as part of a long-planned and scheduled deployment to provide support to ISAF and Afghan forces operating in Helmand,”  Lt Col Tom de la Rue said in the release.

“It is a demanding job for my soldiers and all of them including Captain Wales are now focussing on the job in hand. I have every confidence that the team will deliver what is asked of them.”

Some might think it’s risky to announce the third in line to the throne is in Afghanistan, but the military notes Harry’s arrival was planned and “ the threat to him and others around him thoroughly assessed.”

Harry previously fought in Afghanistan in 2007.

The rest of the unit should be thanking him for providing not only entertainment with his antics, but a target to draw fire from them.

Thanks Prince Harry for serving in Afghanistan. I’m sorry that so many people have nothing better to do with their lives than read about a young man enjoying a party and then freaking about it. Apparently there has even been a poll taken among people in England asking what people think about you having fun in a game of strip pool, etc. in Las Vegas. 60% apparently said they don’t have a problem with it. I don’t know maybe some people are jealous. Please stay safe and in 4 months hopefully something else will have caught people’s attention.

You people shouldn’t be announcing this, and the British Army should be blacking out media on this. Reporting this is a MASSIVE security risk for the Prince, the people he is working with and the people he protecting. This is poor form and and badly thought out press. By printing this you are possibly contributing the deaths of many, up to and including the Prince himself. Poor judgement and bad decision making.

    Dion,

I read earlier that they were doing this on purpose (media is allowed) because when he was over there in 2007, he was under a media blackout and his cover was blown. So, if everyone knows he is there, it will kind of be a little bit safer. If the situation with the Taliban gets way too bad fro him to be there, they will pull him out.
