Prince William should be allowed to fly in Afghanistan: Harry

Prince William is envious that his brother gets to fight in Afghanistan, Prince Harry says.

“I think there is a bit of jealousy, not just the fact that I get to fly this, but obviously he’d love to be out here. And to be honest with you, I don’t see why he couldn’t,” Harry told the Telegraph.

He said his brother, who currently works as a search and rescue pilot, could fly helicopters to pick up wounded soldiers.

“His job out here would be flying the IRT (immediate response team), or whatever, doing Chinook missions. Just the same as us. No one knows who’s in the cockpit,” he told reporter Gordon Rayner.

“Yes, you get shot at. But if the guys who are doing the same job as us are being shot at on the ground, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with us being shot at as well.

“People back home will have issues with that, but we’re not special. The guys out there are. Simple as that.”

Prince William isn’t permitted to take part in the fighting in Afghanistan – or any active service – because it’s considered too dangerous for the future king.

Why is this news? This isn’t even interesting, its actually a waste of print. Sun media cannot even proofread or spellcheck the article…this is much ado about nothing. Future King? really? Its time to rid ourselves of this royal family silliness, a family holding a lofty position based upon…birth? To quote Monty Python, “Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses not from some farcical aquatic ceremony, If I went around saying i was emperor just because some moistened bink lobbed a scimitar at me, they would put me away.” Ms. Schwass-Bueckert, find a more worthy topic next time you pen an article, here are some suggestions that deserve more print time than the royal parasites – paint drying, the importance of comfortable footwear, or pen versus pencil. I am not sure which is more pathetic, that you penned this article, or that I had to waste my time pointing out the incredibly obvious.

Thanks for your comment, Peter, but seeing as this is a blog about our royal family, I doubt I’ll be writing about paint drying or pen vs. paper.

And while I appreciate you stopping by, I might suggest if you don’t want to read royals news, don’t click on the link to royals stories and don’t read a royals blog. But that’s just a thought.

William wants to fly then let him. respect is earned not given and what a message to send to the British people that you are prepared to take any mission you are given just like anyone else. That is LEADERSHIP!
