Canada is getting a second royal tour this year.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex — Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie — will be in Canada next week for a royal tour.

They will tour Ontario – making stops in Ottawa, Trenton, Toronto, Hamilton, St. Catharines and Midland — then head north to Iqaluit, Nunavut.

The last time the couple was in Canada for official business was in July 2000. They’ve also been here 12 times on personal business, which included in 2010 when they were here for the Paralympic Games and presented some Duke of Edinburgh Awards.

It is the second royal tour this year. In May, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, visited Canada as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, marking the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

Where is the money for the trip coming from, their own pocket I hope!

When we have to cut $4m from the homeless budget in Niagara, spending money hosting caviar snacks for these snobs seems downright hypocritical and sickens me. You want to come here for a holiday, fine, don’t expect our government to chip in a penny for any aspect of it.

I concur, no way should any one of the tax paying citizens should be burdened with footing the bill for these “Special status, race based blood rights of royalty”. What a joke in 2012 that people still romance these people who’s relatives plundered and raped the land on an never ending empire at one point. Disgusting, the whole “Royal Welfare Family”…

I emphatically agree with “J”‘s comments of Sept. 7, 2012! Let these freeloaders pay for their own vacations! The whole idea disgusts me to the core! Our government needs to know that charity begins at home and then practice it!

I agree with all the comments above but I also have a pet peave. Whenever something is happing in Canada, a royal vist,a great concert it seems no one knows that Canada does not stop at the Onatrio or Quebec borders. There a four provinces in Atlantic Canada that are just as great a place to visit as the rest of the country.
