They keep going back

It’s no secret – some people in Quebec don’t care for the royal family.

That was made evident again this week when a Member of the National Assembly called Prince William and Duchess Catherine “parasites.”

Ouch!

“What a waste of public funds,” Amir Khadir, leader of the fringe party Quebec Solidaire, told QMI Agency in an interview. “All of this to welcome these parasites.”

The newlyweds are set to visit the province during their 10-day tour, starting June 30 (not long now).

The Queen hasn’t been back to visit Quebec since 1992, when she was there to mark the 125th anniversary of Canada’s Confederation.

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, were in Montreal in 2009 and were heckled by protesters, which made them slightly late for an event.

While I’m sure there are some Quebec residents who don’t mind the royals coming for a visit (some might even be excited for it), I hope Wills and Kate aren’t turned off of our country early on in their trip because of the cold shoulder they’re sure to receive in Montreal and Quebec City.
