A photo of a young Diana on a ski vacation has been making the rounds because it’s going up for auction this month.

The photo, which has the words “not to be published” written across it, shows Diana with a male friend sitting behind her, using her as a kind of desk.

The man in the photo is Adam Russell, the great grandson of a British prime minister and who is now a deer farmer.

Andrew Morton of the Morton Report told ITV Russell and Diana were both injured on the ski trip, dubbed Ski Bob (thus the sweater), and spent a lot of time together while other friends took to the ski hills at Tignes, a resort in France. By the end of the trip, Russell was “smitten.”

But he never told Diana how he felt and, while they kept in touch after the trip, he left for a year to travel after he was done school. When he returned, a friend told Russell his only competition for Diana was, err, Prince Charles.

“If Adam had been a little more forthright about his feelings before he left Oxford, the history of the British monarchy might have been very different,” Morton said.

The photo comes from the Caren Archive (a private collection of rare newspapers in the United States), and was purchased seven years ago from the Daily Mirror newspaper. It’s part of the January photography auction by New Hampshire-based RR Auction.

Marnie…. Princess Diana and her life, will never fade off.
Too many unanswered questions still, regarding her death, that have not been explained in a satisfactory manner!
Just think had she married, say , this young man, she would likely still be alive today! There is another book coming out this year, written by a Russian author, which many of are looking forward to!

I agree, why badger the poor soul further?
