Ever wonder what bullpen pitchers get up to besides spitting sunflower seeds and daydreaming?

Thanks to Derek Holland, a 27-year-old Texas Rangers lefty, we now have a breadth of knowledge on the subject.

Well, at least what the idle pitchers on his team do to pass the time in the bullpen.

On Wednesday, Holland appeared on KRLD-FM 105.3 and let the cat — fart? — out of the bag.

He described two games Rangers pitchers participate in. They are equal parts childish and amusing.

The first is “pink eye,” which basically involves farting in a teammate’s face and cheering for the best reaction.

The second is also fart-related; “fart bottle roulette,” as it’s called, involves catching gas in a water bottle and placing it in a grab bag.

Via DallasNews.com, here’s Holland’s full explanation of the shenanigans:

Derek Holland: “Basically, there are two games. One is called pink eye. That is when you just fart in somebody’s face and they can’t flinch. If they move, there is a penalty for it. This all came from Mark Lowe. ‘Fart Bottle Roulette’ is when you get a bunch of little water bottles, fart into one of them, put them in a bag, shuffle it, and then watch everybody’s reaction. Everybody opens a bottle one by one and it’s the most nerve-wracking thing every because you really don’t want that bottle.”

“You have to have fun and enjoy yourself. This happens once everybody gets together. When everybody shows up, we hurry up and play it than get back to where we were. It’s just a five second game for in between innings. I don’t know if they do it anymore.”
