Man attempts to catch home run with baby in arms

- May 6th, 2014

After Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal smashed a three-run home run Monday night against the Royals, an overexcited fan holding his child went balls deep to grab the ball.

Although he gets full marks for effort, the man failed to retrieve the homer.

There has been some criticism on the web over how the father doesn’t have a care in the world as he lunges for the ball with his child dangling in his arms.

But, I just don’t see it.

You can clearly see that the guy has a firm hold on the child.

Yes, it looks bad because the kid’s head is a little wobbly. But it’s securely fastened and appears to be just along for the ride.

If anything, this guy should be praised for introducing the kid to a winning attitude at such a young age. He didn’t end up getting the ball, but the key is to try your hardest and never give up.

Frankly, I think people are overreacting. I see it as instilling values.
