Old dude at Cubs game makes off-balance catch, sneakily tosses other ball back

- August 11th, 2014

Mark Reynolds got just about all of a 94-mph Jake Arrieta fastball Monday night, sending it to the left-field bleachers at Wrigley Field in a real hurry.

The two-out, second-inning home run, Reynolds’ 20th of the year, put the Milwaukee Brewers up 1-0 over the Chicago Cubs.

But, you see, Reynolds’ bomb carries significance moreso because it soared all the way to the last row of seating, where a white-haired, left-handed man with glasses made a beautiful off-balance snow cone catch.

Old Cubs Fan Makes Great Catch On Home Run, Throws Dummy Ball Back

The aged dude is apparently as quick with his mind as he is with his glove.

Immediately following the snag, he grabbed a ball resting on his seat and tossed it back into play.

The broadcast team was even fooled by the subtle trick: ”He throws the ball back into play, but the Brewers will take that home run…”

This great moment in senior citizenry reminds me of the classic “Robbed by a Little Old Lady” scene in “Dumb and Dumber”.

Of course, the old Cubs fan has some competition for Best Switcheroo of the Year honours.

Remember when a young ladies’ man pulled off the trusty have my ball, no not the real one! ball trick during a Jays-Rangers game in May?

Yeah, that was smooth.
